Re: Torino-Nice Rally logistics - tips?

2018 was the year that Scott, Rich and I (Phil) rode back to the airport with you. I can remember once you finished boxing your bike you simply lifted the box onto your shoulder (still not sure how you managed to do that!) and you simply walked off down the terminal. I've probably got a photo of tha...

Re: Torino-Nice Rally logistics - tips?

Back in 2018 and 2019 when I rode TNR I used the bike boxes that you could purchase from one of the terminals at Nice airport. Looks like they have gone up in price since then but I guess so has everything else these days. It's worth pointing out that the boxes are larger than a normal bike box and ...

Re: Seatpack restraint

Has anyone tried one of the restraint bars? Yes I've used the Alpikt exo rail with a Koala on a couple of occasions and found it did help to reduce the swaying issue. But... My Koala was the older style so didn't have the sleeve to support the rail. When I purchased the rail (probably two years ago...

Re: Garmin Edge 1000 can’t find satellites...

I don't think it's your device. I've had the same issue with my Edge 1000 as have others that I know, last Sunday it was fine until half way through the ride when it suddenly started losing the signal every few seconds. I switched the GPS mode from GPS + GLONASS to just GPS and it's been fine since....

Got an Garmin Etrex to Edge mount converter. Seems to be a good tight fit. https://www.shapeways.com/product/XF3QSGQSY/garmin-gps-etrex-to-edge-mount-converter?optionId=65181415&li=marketplace Yep I got one of those and it arrived last week. Gave it a quick test on the commute home and seems go...

Welcome to my world  I'm on the edge of the Fens and not too far from the lowest land point in Great Britain at 2.75 metres (9.0 ft) below sea level. It can be grim at times... very grim! And like Scud has pointed out the wind is your worst enemy and there is no escape from it, at times it can ...

No place for me this year unfortunately

Going to have a think about doing it at another time of the year but not sure whether that is going to have the same appeal to me at the moment.

Pencilled this one in the diary for next year. Had considered it last year before it got cancelled. Sounds like it will be a good challenge.

Re: Christmas list - a suggestion

I've just bought myself an early xmas present from R*pha (only likely purchase i'll ever make from them), "Longer Rides" written and illustrated by Jo Burt. £12 plus extortionate postage, but I like his drawings and it sounds good to me. No training plans and nutrition guff, and he talks ...

Re: Headlamps (Lockable specifically)...

Petzl e+LITE user here as well, been using mind for over a year now. Nice and small and ideal for use around the bivvy, definitely no good for riding with though. Shouldn't get turned on accidentally either when in your bag etc.

Good photos there. Nice to see some of the couple of bits of route I missed as well, will have to return next year to ride (or push/carry) those.

I've finally made it back to Blighty and about to find out if the bike survived.

I think this journey has been more tiring than the TNR itself.

I had to buy another as there was no way the bike was getting back in one piece. Cobbled the two boxes together so fingers crossed.

I'm still here by the way...

Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

Flight was delayed by 30 mins and then just before take off it got cancelled due to a defective tyre. Rescheduled for 11am tomorrow.

Oh and my bike box got trashed so I've got to source another one now. These boxes from the airport really are useless.
