Re: I want to make a camera strap like this one
Thanks for that link, I didn't find that one. I don't think any of them are what I am looking for though as they are all just a single strap. Whenever I have tried to carry my camera while riding it always swings round to the front (no matter how short I keep the strap). I remember in the 90's EBC d...

2/2 - another night in a German WW2 "pillbox" - part of the Festung Stavanger . This one was a bit grotty (for Norwegian standards) but the sound of the sea made a relaxing evening. Will be back to give this one a tidy, but ah well, it made 2/2 for this year*** https://c1.staticflickr.com...

Re: Best padded short for ITTs
For all day in the saddle I won't wear anything other than Endura's FS260 range. Really thick comfortable pad that makes all the difference. With lesser shorts I get saddle sore after half a day, but these I really can ride all day in. https://www.edinburghbicycle.com/endura-fs260-pro-ii-shorts.html

Nice one, thanks.
That looks a useful link and yeah, I can live without the beard trimmings
Northwind, I get what you mean, but I am not sure what I would clip to in my hip area (unless I sew something into my shorts) I shall report back and see how it goes....

I want to make a camera strap like this one
Hi, I am looking for something like this camera strap http://www.mettlecycling.com/thegoods/mettle-speed-strap-pre-order to allow me to carry a camera safely around my neck without it banging about. I have been googling, but I can't find a UK alternative. It doesn't look that complicated to make - c...

Re: what to use as insulation under a alpkit numo ?
A lot of the downmats come with a pump included so check before you order extra things you won't need. You are right that the pump makes a big difference though - it also keeps bacteria out of the down filling.

If you are tall then I have a couple of downmat lite L's for sale. They are very warm - I am only selling them as we need mummy shape mats for our new tent.

Really enjoyed reading that - yes please post more. It looks like an amazing trip.
Just to be pedantic though - it is 'breathe' not 'breath' in the second para ie 'finally we had some room to breathe'

Re: The Plan B weekend.
I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't. It's a plan now though - I have Geoff's book, so no excuse. We are only 25 miles from Over Phawhope so a perfect wee jaunt. I'm still trying to get the boy back to fitness after his bug though. Managed 6 miles with him the other day, but it was hard work (lots ...

Sorry to mess you about so soon after I said I would be interested ..... I need to pull out of this one I'm afraid as I have just booked a couple of cheap flights to the sun for the boy and I, so I won't be around. Hope you have a lot of fun - please post lots of photos.

Picked up a Trekker Stealth 1.5 tent brand new and unused on eBay at a bit of a bargain price  Old tent (2.9kg) on the right, Trekker (came complete with a set of Stu's poles) on the left. It weighs in a 858g without the pegs or 919g with them. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh518/Bordere...

Re: Anyone going to see Rich and Tom on Thursday?
It was a great night. Loved hearing about Tom's marigolds and many other funny stories. He is an inspiration but a slightly scary one - I don't think I will be riding til I fall asleep at the wheels any time soon. :o I still can't believe the thing about the shorts though  but I won't go any ...

Re: Sleeping bag recommendations please
I got an Alpkit Sky High 500 for my birthday a couple of months ago and it's a revelation compared to my old highlander synthetic bag. While my mate lay shivering all night on saturday I had a great sleep and only woke once to take layers off because I was too hot! Well worth the cash if you can st...

Hi guys, I would like to provisionally put my name down for this too (just me, I will leave the boy at home). When I lived in Edinburgh I used to ride a fair bit in the Pentlands and know the Water of Leith path well so It would be nice to revisit and also meet some of you all.
Cheers,
Bridget

Re: 1000 miles in France
Looks like an excellent trip (Apart from the crocs  ) Hey don't knock the crocs! They were brilliant - we had some stupidly hot weather and our feet stayed cool and unsmelly the whole time. They weigh next to nothing and you can wear them in the sea or river too. I don't care what they look l...

As far as I can see, your son is smiling in just about all the photos: mission successful.
