Re: Moors one hundred - who's going?

I’m going.

But my house move is now Saturday rather than Friday. 🤦‍♀️😞

So will be starting the ride at 12pm.
If anyone else needs to start late give me a shout.

Hey ho.

Re: Dartmoor 200. September 18th

What time are you thinking of starting on the Saturday?

Pondering whether to drive over Friday after work and camp, or drive over Saturday morning.

Re: Moors One Hundred DATE CHANGE ON P3

Anyone want a free ticket? My wife has just thrown a wobbler about me being away for our 10 year wedding anniversary ! I will forward the emails with the ticket and link to the route Ben I don’t know, she can’t allow you one day per year. Not as of there haven’t been dates before, or, hopefully, da...

Re: Dartmoor 200. September 18th

I’m still planning on riding.
Only have the weekend.
So would cut sections if time limited.
Be nice to explore a new area.
Drive over Friday night and camp somewhere local

Re: Strava!

Not bothered about strava But then again I don’t feel any need to Willie wangle against others. As above, Garmin Connect. I did like the feature to compare the same runs; was useful for Parkrun or running round the block. Maybe that £47 would be more usefully spent on an OS maps or outdoor active su...

Re: Qu. for eTrex users

I tend to plan routes in ViewRanger
Export the GPX from VR
Import to BC
Then move onto a Garmin

As others have said, BC is a nice to place to store "trips"
Easy to store routes, waypoints, even photos

This will primarily be a BB200 shakedown so I’ll be looking to push pretty long into the night and do a good chunk of the 200km prior to sleeping. :???: surely "a bb200 shakedown" leaves the camping gear in the car? Tut, tut. You’re supposed to carry shelter and a sleeping bag on th...

Re: Garmin 1030 Plus Mapping Question

RE BB200 - the route will follow the line of the RoW indicated on the map. However, whether that RoW actually exists on the ground is a different thing entirely. It's not done to (a) catch people out or (b) because I'm a bastard, it's simply a matter of trying to keep things above board and reduce ...

Re: Garmin 1030 Plus Mapping Question

I think part of my concern/anxiety was being somewhat unfamiliar with the arcane access laws and therefore assuming I had to stick to the GPX track. For the Cairngorms Loop, I've tried to make it clear where the track MUST be followed and which parts have alternative (though nearby) options. I gues...

when one can’t see the track, one could turn on the aerial photography overlay to see that, ah, the track is 10metres to the right. 🤣😆 I've still not forgiven Stu for the lack of accuracy on the supplied BB200 route for exactly this reason  I see the bb200 GPX as a suggested direction. then sp...

I should be free that weekend (pending house move logistics), and would be keen to join please (although with a little trepidation) I’m planning on riding over two days. With a camp out on the Saturday night. So, if you can ride 100km in a day then you’ll be fine. I’m intending a fairly leisurely/ ...

Re: Garmin 1030 Plus Mapping Question

The pre-loaded maps on a Garmin 1030 are Garmin branded OSM data. Garmin adds some extra detail. These maps are plenty for following a GPX route. I also have the Garmin branded OS maps. As mentioned, there is a lot of detail on a small screen. However, a recent firmware upgrade for the 1030 made the...

mudclaws have very little cushioning.

when running off-road in the mud cushioning is required.

Gravel bikes are a bit of a mystery to me. I have never owned a road bike so am not used to drop bars at all. Has anyone here gone from MTBs to a gravel bike without any experience of road bikes, and if so how did you get on? The thought of tackling rough and/or steep stuff on skinny drop bars does...

On both I do wish the screen lock would fully disable the touch screen. Both are a pain in the arse in the rain. Is that still an issue? Annoying. Oh yes. And it is damn annoying. Put up with it as otherwise having a touchscreen is very useful. How hard could it be that locked means the touchscreen...
