Re: Cairngorm loop terrain
Only done the inner loop thus far. Recently in Oct ( there's a ride report on here) Geldie to the Eidart was a boggy quagmire. Bynack to the saddle top of the L&L was pretty much H-A-B... As SR says, there are a lot of water/river crossings, Fords of Avon can be a show stopper. And, unlike Mike,...

Hogmanay bivy?
I'm kind of getting a strange feeling recently that I should go for a bivy the 31st/1st (get my bivy a month under proper way).
Thinking out Glen Tanar way...
Am I just suffering pre new year blues?

As moder-dye I've (somewhat unusually) a couple of meals out planned.
After that I finish work on Tuesday next week so will need to try start then.
I've been bingeing pretty much the last couple years

Re: Bearbones Fatfighters Club...
Considering that ScotRoutes photos from the Highland Winter Bivy show just how fat a knacker I really am I really, really need to join this. Like ton I've done low carb thing and dropped stones, looks like I need to go and refind that particular 'me'. I have quite a few plans for next year and being...

Re: Scottish Highlands Winter Bivi Dec 10/11
The real question is, which weekend in January? The driest, warmest one? Course, there's always the option of a hogmanay one  Actually, I might be a little serious about that... Gari: thanks for your 'pep talks' and company at the back. It all helped. Don't know you guys spotted but co...

Jeez, huge box (big enough for at least 8 boxed sets of TOGS) with one box, two cards, return slip and 4 air bags.... Looks like Jensons are Trumpites....

Re: Lighter bivy
Apologies for any misdirection...So the issue was a personal one - I found it awkward to get used to where the zips were on the flynet relative to the lack of computing power in my brain.
But thanks for clarification, I had wondered the reasons for the blog post comments...

Hmm, I thinks it looks a little special....
But then again if OP has had it built custom geo to suit then fair play.
Looks a bit short to me (for such long seat tube),

Err, nope. I thought the Fjallraven 1000 shirt that cost me <£70 in a sale was bad enough....would you buy this?
But then again, not only am I Scottish, I'm also an Aberdonian.
Every penny; a prisoner....

Re: Lighter bivy
Re the OR in Gregs TD round-up on his blog he says he probably wouldn't take the OR bivi bag again (there are some explanatory notes at the end of this post: http://www.gregorymay.ie/?p=3034 ). Which was disappointing as I was thinking about getting one myself.... (Also, being a, er, large gentleman...

Re: Nice gear you don't use?
Yup, I have stuff I keep for special.... God knows when that is. I'll usually pull out a manky 10 yo t-shirt than a new one... I got a new sleeping bag before my recent inner CL trip. Only the fact that no way was my other bag going to pack small enough induced me to take it. I bought it specificall...

Re: Stocking fillers
Just taken a punt on Jenson, 1 set, will see if they decide to level import tax on $20.... I'll report back for future reference.
Still interested in another set if that transpires (funnily enough I got more than one bike)...

Re: Stocking fillers
@supersolo: Sounds like a good idea. Can you find out about hinged (& preferably black) and let us know? @pistonbroke: Very much appreciate the offer, but it looks like we've been barking up the wrong tree (which is probably my fault  ). I think we need to put things on hold meantime. Susp...

Re: Stocking fillers
I'm pretty sure Colin is only taking the Muick... As was I.With the flurry of "I'll sell you mine" posting,
But I'd be up for a set regardless (I've seen Colin's, nice set btw ).
I'd make sure you get at least deposit before stumping up personally!

As I was off on a flexi I was actually in when the postie came round: he brought me my Force Ten Helium 2 and GasTank from Backcountry.
Coincidentally I got a text from HMV to tell the new Gillian Welch Boots cd was now in

Re: Dear God make it stop!
The only things that I was after (a GPS and a scanner) I've not seen any cheaper so naw.
Was off today on a flexi just couldn't be arsed with it all though.
The new Gillian Welch cd that I preordered from HMV turned up though (even got a pound refunded) but I don't think that counts

Backcountrybiking are selling off some older style Sweetroll barbags for £75. I think they've 4 left. And Force Ten Helium 2 tent(s) for £185. I've bought one (last night nothing posted afterwards on their FB page so assuming they've another one?) You'd need to contact them directly (website says o...
