Re: Bivvy a month 2022

JimmyG. If you've not tried Cramond Island a bit further down the coastline I recommend giving it a go. It's tidal so you need to take that into account. I usually get there around 7pm. Several gun fortifications to choose from but I find the smaller ones on the NE of the island the best. I reckon ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

12/12 for Fraser and I for 2021. We decided we would see in the New Year with a bivvy. We went to our favourite local location, the hobbit huts at Whitelee MTB trails. We pedalled to the huts at 23:45. We watched the New Year fireworks over Glasgow from our bivvy site. Right after midnight, the rain...

We won't make it either. Fraser has a squad training session at SCH Velodrome on Sunday AM. Hoped to get along for our 12th BaM. Have a great weekend to those who go.

Re: Todays ride

Rode a part of An Turas Mor from Kelvingrove along the Kelvin Walkway and NCR756 to the Antonine Wall then back to Glasgow. Met Lee Craigie out running. Kept Lee company for a few miles. Beautiful day to be out and about.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Fraser and I completed our October bivvy on Sunday night. As with September, we tried to fit in a bivvy trip with a packed weekend. Fraser had a 4hr cyclocross training session in Dundee on Saturday then Fife College cyclocross race in Dunfermline on Sunday. Our plan was to bivvy in Devilla Forest o...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Nice one Alan (and the wee man). I've been there a couple of times on the fat bike but your report has reminded me I must get there for a BAM someday. Funnily enough so was I after seeing that. Not made it over this year as its been mobbed over the summer. Good shout for the colder months though :Y...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Finally getting round to posting a few pics of our September BaM. We decided we would go back to Tentsmuir Forest, a location we had been to a couple of years ago. We decided we would do a short trip as Fraser had a full on weekend prior to our trip. On the Saturday, we made the trip through to Inch...

Cheers all, nice that my rambling tales are appreciated! Hi Phil Thanks for posting. Enjoyed reading your report. Fraser and I are riding the faultline trail in sections. Re: Todays ride

Fraser and I have been riding various trails, Faultline Trail, Great North Trail, An Turas Mor and 2nd City Divide, ticking off sections at a time. We were missing a section of Faultline Trail down the Forth and Clyde canal from Glasgow to Clydebank. Youngest son was having riding lessons nearby so ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

8/8 for Fraser and I this year. Fraser was keen to back to the bothies but I wasn't so sure as I thought they may be rammed. Did a bit of research and came up with Burleywhag bothy. It has a reputation for being quiet and not seeing much footfall. On further research I found Borderer's route from Du...

Re: Inside or outside?

Both. Have been making bikepacking trips with my 13 year old son for a couple of years now. We have done a mixture of bothies and camping. We've always had a good experience at the bothies meeting some great folk. Have to confess, I pick the bothies quite carefully to avoid the ones that may attract...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

As posted earlier, that's 7/7 for Fraser and I in 2021. When we got home, Fraser said "well, that was eventful." As usual, we left our BaM to the last minute. Fraser had taken part in a 4 hour training session at the Fife Cycle Park so wasn't keen in going too far. We decided we would bivv...

Thanks for posting. I enjoyed the Directors Cut in your blog. Fraser and I stayed in Abyssinia bothy a couple of years ago. I really liked it. MBA have done a good job.
