Re: Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

just a plate I had made to mount 2x Ø35 pipe clamps to a 40mm pipe clamp and an eccentric BB shell. I tried it last night and the chain lost a little tension and the alignment went a bit off. Not enough to drop the chain but i've set it up again and tightened it a bit more. Will see how that goes bu...

Re: Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

Here's what I ended up buying and then I've made a few changes like the bmx bars, kiddy cranks and stand. I had to remove the front mech to fit the stand so just waiting on a side swing to be delivered. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczPjTNbDcsEdu2esuX9vF0b15bhLa2BZmPWJbVfH-7cm1XWfWCtDg-MY...

Re: High mount bottle cage?

I just bought 2 of these but not used them yet. They have 3 bolt holes in them but aren't evenly spaced but the lowest is right at the bottom then 2x normal position. Also the silver bar doesn't move, its a plastic ring not rubber and it's only cheap elastic. The reviews seem positive though. https:...

Re: Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

Hi,

thanks for the offer but he has a 14" pedal bike (possibly not as nice as those cnocs though).

Also I picked up a dawes galaxy twin today. Pretty happy with it so far, although the kiddy crank adapters I was going to buy wont fit so I need another plan.

Re: Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

Thanks for all of your replies. I think in conclusion the tandem will be better for commuting and road stuff (which will probably suit us more often) but the weehoo better off road. Is it wrong to want both? and also, don't forget a spare tube for the weehoo! Not sure I'd find a trailer latched ont...

Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

Hi all, i'm looking to do some light touring/camping with my son whose not yet 4 and just starting to ride his own bike. I've been considering all the options from cargo bikes, tandems, ex royal mail bikes and tag along trailers/bikes. He also starts school in september so some commuting to. I dont ...

Toddler Sleeping bag recommendations/advice

My boy is turning 3 in May, in the past we have gone car camping with a travel cot and he has slept in there with his bedding from home. He's outgrown his travel cot though, so now looking for his 1st sleeping bag. I'm looking at going camping at the end of April so could still be cold on a night. A...

Re: selling all and getting a cheating bike.

One thing I will say about eBikes is that I would really recommend getting one from a local place. The motors/electrics can fail randomly and on some it can mean a new motor. Which, outside of warranty is nearly £1k. However, a bike shop you've spent some money in, who like you can maybe sweet talk...

Re: selling all and getting a cheating bike.

I know 3 people with ebikes and all have had warranty claims. 1 is currently facing a 1k bill for a new shimano motor (torque sensor failed out of warranty) and being without the bike for a few weeks/months. The whole bafang kit is less than 1k and you can buy the parts seperately. I dont have one b...

Like a lanshan 1 but cheaper?

Hi all, I know the lanshan is a knock off of a Lunar Solo but are people actually paying 150-180 now? I thought they used to be more like 70-80? Is the item below similar to the lanshan but without the branding? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374002024411?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0...

Re: Self inflating mat repair, slow leak

Just to follow up on this, i've finally had it in the bath and found the leaks. They were only apparent when the none submerged corners were folded over. Its not the valves but the material around the valves. The valve body tapers to a point but the two layers of material cant seal to the point of t...

Self inflating mat repair, slow leak

Hi all,

I've got a self inflating mat that has a very minor leak over a few hours. I've had it in the bath and cant find any leaks and i've tried to iron the seams to see if that helps but it still goes down. Any other ideas? is it worth trying a tent seam sealer?

TIA,

Rob

Re: Saris Bones bike rack - any good?

I had a bones 3 and wouldn't recommend it. It would loosen up by the end of the journey, had marked the car/bike, it obstructs number plates and rear lights which is pretty dangerous, they are a faff to fit bikes to and don't suit all frame designs. Roof racks/tow bars/van are miles better solutions...

Building bikes can be expensive, especially buying nice forks plus all the little bits like seat clamps, grips, cables, stems etc add up. I once built up an on one scandal. I bought parts cheap/used had £1000 in it and it was just not very good. I sold it and bought a Niner jet 9 that is in very goo...

Recommend a fleece

One of my favourite riding jackets is an old liner fleece out of a snowboarding jacket. It's a fleece but so thin you can see through it when you hold it up to the light. It also has 3 zipped pockets but 2 of the zips have failed now so it's ready for replacement.

Thanks,
