Re: Restrap bar bag reviews please

I have the 'large' one, it's excellent, I really like the food bag on top and the way it attaches, so simple yet secure. I have fitted a Lanshan Pro 1 tent, sleeping bag (Pipedream 200), mat and pillow in it so plenty of space. I've used it on the road bike doing the NC500 and also of froad doing va...

Re: Budget Tour of the Montañasvacias

August and Patagonia could be an interesting combo... I cycled the Carratera Austral in Decmber-January last year and there was snow at the most southerly point. Highly recommend the trip though, fairly easy logistics, and camping is stop anywhere you want and pitch up - weather might be a bit extre...

Re: My BB200 2020 (may contain spoilers).

On the road I met two lads doing the 300, who looked strong. After the relief of some road I got to Crickhowell and saw the two lads eating outside Jehu's. Hi Euge, That was me and James! Nice to meet you and Lars en route. The look of strength dwindled after Crickhowell, as did our average speed, ...

Re: BB200 2020

There is a 300 too (same as the last 2 years but probably different route). Only 3 entered so far........ I'd say the entries would be you, Karl, Ian Barrington and myself, but that would be 4 of us :???: Karl and Ian haven't entered yet, just you, me and Dave (Kane or Barter??) Looks like we'll ha...

Wheel woes - QR 650b+

I've finally admitted defeat trying to bring back life to the wheels on my 2017 Genesis Longitude who felt the wrath of Storm Callum on the 2018 BB200, cup and cone bearings didn't appreciate waist deep river crossings(and my general lack of basic maintenance probably didn't help)! I'm really strugg...

Re: Are Carbon bars worth the ££?

I work as a lead engineer in NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) for a fairly well known car manufacturer, I'm really tempted to take an objective measure of carbon versus ally handle bars for curiositys sake. Vibration comfort is basically my day job! Any particular bars people are interested in?

Have you thought about the width of the shoe? I find that most manufacurers of SPD shoes generally make quite narrow shoes and this can cause my toes to go numb.

Re: Broken Riders - Joining The Party (Long Read)

Oft, just browsing the forum feeling a bit miserable myself. The curse of being called Rich and cycling at BPW hit me hard yesterday on the qualifier of AC-DC. Needless to say I did not qualify and I now have a broken elbow, 5 days before I'm the best man at a wedding! Hopefully it'll be ok for my R...

Got my room booked at the Star. Looking at the weather I may chicken out of bivvying and will bring the tent, it barely weighs anymore but always feels less 'Bearbones'. Everyone all happy with their route of choice?

Re: A special thank you from me - BB200/300

My lift home got a DNF so when I trundled back at 6:13 he wanted to drive straight home so no black badge for me, if I send a stamped addressed envelop, can I get another badge to add to the collection?! I'll post you one down - will it be to the address I've got? If it's Number 16, that's the one!...

Re: A special thank you from me - BB200/300

Huge thanks for organising the event Stu, brilliant route as always, I actually enjoyed the river crossings (maybe type 2 fun!). I'm glad the event wasn't cancelled, anyone attempting a Bear Bones 200/300km event should be sensible enough to know if the conditions are above their ability, it was goo...

We were very lucky with the weather in the day - night time not so much! Tough 100 mile route but some cracking trails, I'm not great on rocky descents but was getting the hang of it by the end. Had a bit of a nightmare Saturday night, accidentally left my tarp at home and the down pour over night c...

I bring 2, saw the result of someone slashing a tyre wall on BB200 a few years ago, no amount of sealant will fix a 2 inch tear!
