Re: Highland Trail 2019

Great read Karl :-bd :-bd Whats with the OBH? I thought that in 2018 they had been pretty welcoming..... Maybe better to use the Achness hotel?? There was a change of ownership. Achness also changed hands this year (crap for the new owner with Covid shutdown), but he is a cyclist so could well be a ...

Re: GBDURO goes from self-supported to self-sufficient

I was absolutely made up when I got my entry accepted for this year's GBDuro. Training and prep started well before lockdown so a bit of a roller coaster of will it / won't it go ahead over the last few months. Totally trivial really in the grand scheme of things, but I guess everyone on this forum ...

Re: Looking ahead - what are you looking forward to?

Well I had been preparing for the GBDuro - but since that has changed format this year it's beyond me  . So when I can, might jump on the GBDivide route from near Falkirk up to say Contin, then back down to Inverness to pick up the Badger Divide to Glasgow and then the canal home. A nice figure...

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

Updated start list available. 12 riders (yes Howard, I've included you ) FWIW I've set up a spotwalla page for myself. Spots aren't compulsory but I usually take one on these longer trips anyway. I'm hoping my Mrs will keep an eye on it and report if she sees it heading down the Avon/Geldie/Ti...

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

Weather is definitely looking "a bit wet"! Current plan for me is catch the first train rather than drive, so it is the 10am start for me too. Maybe a bit of banter in the car park before everyone rides away from me

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?

Might possibly have a passout for this weekend... There was talk of starting earlier (which as a slower rider would suit me!!). Is that still happening or is it just the normal 10am start?

Re: Borders 350/220 spot track links.

Anybody any news whether Adrian finished today? I was with him yesterday at the cafe at Ingram, and he'd just planned to get over the Cheviots and stop (he started from Kirk Yetholm on Tuesday morning), then finish today. If that's what he did, then today would have been a long hard day! Or maybe he...

:-bd Well done all (I'm sick as a pig....) Thanks Phil. You definitely did miss out on some exceptional riding conditions - almost every "bog" was rideable. Not without it's drawbacks though - I ran out of water on Sunday (and I was carrying 3 litres) until I finally found a stream I was ...

Good luck to all headed up to Peebles - I'm another one who's made my excuses already so will be dot watching instead  Enjoy the dry and dusty trails (also very frustrated to be missing them!) and happy riding! 'Fraid I'm out - knee needs some TLC (cartilage behind knee cap a bit iffy). Doing various stretches and strengthening stuff and OK to keep biking but not 350 miles and 39000ft climbing.... Ray, just been doing some route homework - the section between Bedrule and denholm has a vague bit between Dykesglen wood and Spittal tower - is this obvious on the ground or is it a case of following your nose? Phil, I did that bit when I did the Borders Abbeys Way a couple of months ago. It is pr...

Re: Borders 350/220 spot track links.

So I got an answer on how to link through to your individual history from the group page. If you set up an active, public trip, a link will show automatically. If you want to show the route map on your trip page, you need to have a kml of the route (which I can share) and add it as a track to your t...

OK, Here are the details for joining your spot to the Borders350 and 220 Spotwalla pages. 1) You obviously need a working Spot – people who are hiring/borrowing may have to get that all set up last minute, but there are plenty of other places where you can find out how to do that. You will need to c...

Go for it Mart. Ride safe and be in every moment. Even if you don't get the dot working on trackleaders, you can always post the link to your own spot page. People on here know the route pretty well!
