I used an apidura one and had the same problem on my old bike. So I just folded the straps halfway along to twist them to go under the stem. Rode ht550 like that with no problems. Bag still going strong.

I have a compact bar bag and the accessory pouch.

In used condition but both fully functional still. I would want to sell as a set as I'm not using it anymore.
