Re: Van life 'wild camping' or not this September
Thx both.
I certainly wouldn't stop anywhere 'urban'.
I really would rather not have to book.
Mid September is after school holidays so the parent/child rush should mainly be over.
I'll try a few phone calls and see what sites are saying.

Van life 'wild camping' or not this September
I am a total van virgin, with the exception of riding pillion in pete's vans. We're looking at renting a van from mid September doing North East England and Scotland probably. We've never done organised holidays. 1. Are we generally OK to stop and camp wherever it takes us, with in reason obviously....

I've been using 510 freerider Pro for the last 3 or 4 years.
Pretty good for me.
I always take the inner out to dry.

I could be your man.
It's the green flavour krampus, large.
Been unloved in the garage for a while.
Would probably prefer to sell as full build or rolling chassis as I'd only have to sell the wheels separately.

In Reverse, congratulations, when did you tie the knot?
As for the pbw, I think the majority is a good ride. With one section to definitely avoid, Gisburn to the dales. It's a soft tour of field edges. Instead just ride the nice country lanes.

Re: Bivi boots
Reading all these options I'm thinking the best option is still a spare pair of woollen socks and 2 plastic bags.
That gives you the added advantage of a pair of nice dry spare socks to wear on the last days riding.

wildcat drover with a dropper - what could possibly go wrong ?
Does anyone use a seat post harness, specifically a wildcat Drover with a dropper ?
If so does it damage the slide parts of the seat post much/at all ?
asking for a friend ;-)

BCN is very similar to Maverick, but IMO BCN is better & at the very least map download is a lot faster.

Re: Anyone tried putoline chain wax ?
Thx all, interesting contrast between bb views and STWers.
Reading that stw post it's not for Lancashire winters, at least not for rides more than a few hours. It'd spend more time in the fryer than on the bike.
Perhaps I'll reconsider when we get that long dry summer.

Anyone tried putoline chain wax ?
Is it worth the faff ?
How long does it last ?
Is it good for winter & summer ?
It's never been on my radar before.
I used to be a squirt user but lost heart when winter started, been using a good old greasy winter sticky oil since.

Tony,
Where abouts are you?
I could loan you some Jones risers to try if you want. I am located near Blackburn.
PM if you are.

My vote is for bivvy.
A harder choice might be what direction, personally I prefer clockwise.

Re: orbea OIZ Tr - any experience ?
Seen your posts before about the Occam & it looks great. Not sure though I fancy the new one (for bikepacking) though. I too use a Ti fatty or a krampus at the moment as my two choices, but they are my only bikes so looking at something a bit more 'fun'. I keep switching from something like the ...
