Re: Cycling glasses... getting old
I used to carry a pair of readers but they kept getting squashed.
Been toying with going back to correct prescription in both eyes and getting a monocle.
I jest not.
Should cause a laff at the very least when it comes out in the pub!

Re: Fork leg storage
Gorilla cages on the fatty as I have the tripple mount points.
On the suspension bike I've got the planet X fork bag kits. Only mod is to use inner tubes permanently tie wrapped to the forks. With those the cages are rock solid.
Cheap and they work. Recommended.

Re: Cycling glasses... getting old
I'm a 50 something, with awful eyesight and aging really isn't helping. I too would recommend contacts, partly because glasses either get rained on or fug up. Also because when your prescription changes it is no cost to get different lenses. Mine are dailies which I'd recommend. My optician has said...

Re: Before I send it back- Columbia OutDry Jacket
I've got a blue columbia out dry titanium in medium.
Only warn a few times.
I'm 185 tall and relatively slim (I think) 80kg, and it is too small for me in the arm length especially.
We could swap if you want?

Is the 'sync' worth the extra £50 for a bar light
I do already have an exposure helmet light but that does not have 'sync'

Maybe slightly more travel than you first mentioned but a salsa just popped up in the classifieds looks pretty good.
And what the hell, 20mm extra travel will mean a 20m wider grin.

Quite liking my orbea oiz tr.
The tr means 120 travel front and rear, so not especially racey. Mines been good for 160km and summer bike packing duties

Re: Gas stoves, windshields and... explosions?
Perhaps just no one has survived to say 'yeah that must be what happened'.
I use a kraku with no issues (so far).
I have read that the remote stove style is a lot more efficient, but perhaps that is more due to be being lower, so less prone to wind. Throw in a wind shield then even better.

Re: Dales Divide back on 29th August... yay
I'd initially thought yay, excellent.
I'm now coming around to the thinking that a group start is not the right thing to do. OK everyone will spread out but day 1 and 2 will be mad at the first obvious cafés.
I'll either bail, do it early or do my own thing.
To be decided.

Re: Attaching Cages to Suspension forks
I've just done 200km in the peak district using the planet X fork kts. On My test ride they slipped slightly so I put inner tube loops on the forks with zip ties, then zip tied the chassis's to the forks. Absolutely rock solid and the inner tubes means there will be no rubbing on the forks. Very ple...

Re: Van life 'wild camping' or not this September
Thx both.
I certainly wouldn't stop anywhere 'urban'.
I really would rather not have to book.
Mid September is after school holidays so the parent/child rush should mainly be over.
I'll try a few phone calls and see what sites are saying.
