Re: Roo Review

Like a few people have posted here I use a 20L dry bag on the bars stuffed with sleeping bag, Bivvy bag, thermarest Matt, 3.5 tarp, and insulated jacket. I've used a roo pouch with a Kanga harness with a couple of small items in the roo (phone glasses etc) and find it very useful, although there not...

Re: New Alpkit Video.

Great video, showed it to my kids yesterday and they really enjoyed it! I know a few adults that could learn a thing or two from that young lad. Great stuff indeed!

Re: 1 - 25,000 OS for GPS

Hi folks, Apologies for jumping in, this may be old news for some of you, but I've just bought a couple of OS explorer maps for the WRT and And new maps come with a code to enable you to download the full 1:25k maps to a smartphone that can be used offline. £18 gets you the loveliness of a paper map...

Re: Tubeless: skills and spares needed?

Used the weldtite sticky string type kit a few times with great success and have yet to have a plug fail. When it comes to buying replacements I bought a bulk lot of black motorcycle string/plugs off eBay. They are thicker than you would need but I simply cut a load in half along their length with a...

Re: Knots for tarps

Newbie to the bikepacking thing and only been out under a tarp a few times but quickly learnt the importance of knowing a few knots. Siberian hitch and truckers hitch at each end of a ridge line work really well for me along with Prussiks for tensioning the tarp along the ridge, useful if you want t...

Re: What bags for make your own add boiling water meals?

Been looking into DIY bikepacking meals and did some research (read stuff on the internet that must be true!!) Anything that's BPA and Pthalate free seems to be the general advice as heating up plastic can cause some chemicals to leach, in very very small quantities, from the bag into the food. I've...

Re: PSA top tube bag and other useful bits

Top tips, Nice one! The bar clamp extender thingy looks like it might be the perfect solution to mounting a light on the bars without it being obstructed by an Alpkit Kanga harness. Definitely worth a punt for the few quid it costs, but wondering if anybody has tried one with the Kanga or similar? C...

Re: Dehydrator

Been experimenting with this recently too, with some success. Used the oven at 50 degrees with the door open a crack. Dried some onion, mushroom, tomato, all diced very small - took three to four hours to dehydrate. Then did some ground beef (most forums recommend lean beef as fat doesn't dehydrate ...
