Re: On road trip - packing/loading advice
I used Schwalbe city jets on my rockhopper for a 350 mile road tour a couple of years ago and they worked a treat. This was before I had discovered soft luggage so everything was on a pannier rack at the back, made for some interesting frame flex when cornering! Would definitely split the weight up ...

Enjoyed reading that, might be a good route for me to get a wee taste of what the HT terrain is like.

Sounds like an epic trip Ray, I wish I had time for such a challange these days! Could your stomach problems have been caused by to much ibuprofen? That happened to me after I turned my ankle a few years back,I was scoffing double the recommend amount and it really mucked up my stomach for a bit, I ...

Re: Gears Assistance
If you're fitting new cables hit up youtube and find a video of how to set the gears up correctly. First time I done it I watched the video through then restarted it and paused it after each step and done it myself. Gears worked perfectly first time and now I can replace the cables and adjust the ge...

Not had a chance to post my pics up yet, decided against a re-attempt this weekend due to the crap weather but I'll be back for some more soon. Already thinking the HAB wasn't that bad, I must be a glutton for punishment!

I use Altura night vision shorts and bibs, they're really comfy and they were half price on treds a couple of weeks ago so could be worth checking there

Re: Weight distribution
I have my sleeping bag, mat, and a dry set of clothes on the bars. My tent in a tapered airlok, tools, spares etc. in a small possum frame bag. water food and cook kit has to go in my back pack for now. I've been building up my old rockhopper for bikepacking duties so I'm hoping I can get a bigger f...

Re: Roo Review
I usually have my sleeping bag, down jacket, a pair of dry socks and trousers all stuffed into my dual and then my thermarest strapped to the top so probably 2.5kg-ish so adding another 2kg is probably a bad idea. I have a bottle on my fork leg already but I fell off the other day and burst the cage...

Re: Roo Review
That was my worry, I've already got a sleeping bag and dry clothes in a 20 ltr Airlok dual so adding more weight could be an issue. Also once the bladders half full it might slosh around a bit. Might just stick with a sweaty back for now, hopefully I'll find the funds to finish putting my Rockhopper...

Roo Review
Has anyone used the Alpkit Fat Roo? Was about to buy the Roo pouch when I spied it. My thinking is I could get a 2 litre bladder in it with the tube poking out between the 2 zips and some food squashed in around it. This would let me completely loose my back pack but I'm worried it might be to much ...

Re: Fork mounted bottles
I moved my bottle cage onto a fork leg a couple of weeks ago using elite straps, it worked great until I hit a particularly rough descent and I lost the bottle somewhere and no way I was going back up to find it! One of the kids came home from swimming last week and still had her coloured band on, I...

Re: Spot Gen 1 Case
I only have an edge 200 on my stem Adam, they seemed to work ok over several hundred test miles with the spot clipped onto my bar bag strap until I snapped the belt clip on a particularly rough decent!
Will drop Alpkit an email and see what they say

Spot Gen 1 Case
I snapped the belt clip off the back of my gen 1 spot a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know some where I can get a new one, a case or a handlebar mount like the ram mount for gen 3?

It's not an MBA bothy, I think there's a lot of shooting on the estate so it's probably used for that and they'll drive any required wood in. Would be good if they left a wee stash of logs though

Aye, it's a braw wee bothy. The furniture's better than my house as well, it's just a pity there's no wood near by to get the stove kindled up!RIP wrote:Looks lovely up there! That bothy's much nicer than our HOUSE - furniture looks amazing.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.
3/3 for me now I got the train through to Edinburgh on Friday lunch time where I picked up the start of the capital trail. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1454/25443912573_3f44bb5222_z.jpg It started out as a beautiful day for a wee meander on the bike, I was making good time for the first 20 or so m...
