Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.
Another foray into Fife after work on Friday got me 7/7 and the maiden bikepacking voyage for my old Rockhopper which is now fully working again and performed admirably. I headed across the Kincardine bridge, through Devilla forest and onto the old railway line cycle path towards Dunfermline for din...

WTD - Cheap Bivvy Bag
Was hoping to pick up an Alpkit Hunka this week but they're currently on preorder, anyone got anything similar they'd like to sell me? On a budget so similar price to the Alpkit and I'd need it for Thursday

That does sound more appealing! Can't believe we're organising a winter bivvy in July!

Re: Scotland SE Winter Bivi Dec 10/11.
I should be attending Ray, I've warned the misses any birthday celebrations should be the weekend before so I can make this! As with Matt I will be travelling by train so I may have to join the Southern upland way at Galashiels and meet up with you guys on route. I quickly plotted it out and it'll b...

Re: Help me with chainrings!
Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a crack tomorrow and see how I get on. I think because it's at least a 6/7 year old crank they just make the rings slightly differently now. Probably to make you buy the latest kit but if I can make them fit all the better

Possibly interested in the Titec bars if they are still available? Can you send me some pics?
Thanks,
Blair

Help me with chainrings!
I've just received a new set of chainrings to go on my FC-M442 Octalink crankset however the middle ring won't fit. It appears that the locating point on the spider has a 1mm tab which new cranksets don't, it will fit easily on the outer ring placement but not the middle. The new ring is M9 U-36 and...

Haha, yeah I've had a few where there's nothing there!
Did you manage to make up a GPX route that had waypoints and the hints for the Geocaches? And if so how do you do it?

I'm hoping this counts because I don't know if I'll get out again this month, spent the weekend with the family at Cream O' The Croft MTB festival in comrie. We slept in a tent and there was cycling so I'm saying it's OK! I was representing Bear Bones in the enduro race on saturday but failed misera...

Geocaching
I've recently been doing a bit of Geocaching with the girlfriend and wondered if this would be a good way to make up a bikepacking route in an area I'd never been before. Has anyone tried this? Is it just a question of plumbing the geocaches into an etrex and setting off or is it a bit more complex?...

Re: Tent for the Girl
I have an MSR hubba hubba that I use regularly with my girlfriend and it works great, not to heavy, pretty spacious and if you need a bit more space you can add the gear shed on. It has a mesh inner so can be a bit chilly in winter but we've been out well below zero and still had a good nights sleep

After a weekend camping with the lads and finishing up in the pub on the Sunday night I staggered down to the local orchard and slept under a tree in just my sleeping bag, I was woken up by an old boy on a ride on lawnmower cutting the grass in a circle around me!

Cream O' The Croft
I hope this is OK to stick up here. Don't know if anyone's interested but it's Cream O' The Croft this weekend at Comrie and they're still looking for volunteers to help out. I've bagged tickets for me, my misses and the kids and a race ticket for myself just for doing a wee bit of marshalling. Muck...

Fantastic and inspiring read! I normally save this kind of thing for sitting on the bog at work but I had to stop at the pub on the way home to read the rest of this! Now I need to stop stopping at the pub and actually put some miles in so I can have a crack at this beast of a route

Re: Dual air pump
If I'm riding somewhere like Glentress I'll take my shock pump and adjust it on the go to dial in the suspension so I could see it being useful for me, I wouldn't replace my current pumps for this one bit if either of them did need replacing at some point I would consider this

FSA self extracting crank
I have an FSA self extracting crankset and its started coming slack by its self. I tightened it up last night and by the time I got to work this morning it's slack again. Anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it? I'm planning a 70 mile bivvy trip this weekend but it's not looking likely whe...
