Re: OOF tyre clearance
I liked Floaters as well and had them set up tubeless on my OOF. I ran JJ 4.0s for about three weeks before selling them on as I hated them. I think a lot depends on where you live and what you ride but I've had multiple Nates on my fat bikes and struggle to see past them for the riding I do. I curr...

Mine have been great as well, in fact I'm just about to replace the rear with another new one. Maybe you've been unlucky Mike?

Re: The post man's been ...
And I have a lovely 3D printed Etrex/Qtr Turn adapter from our very own Mr Barter. With a wee bit of tidying up it seems to fit snugly and should offer some extra mounting options for my Oregon. I'll feed back my experiences as we're both a bit concerned that it might be a bit delicate for the bigg...

Nukeproof Neutrons/Electrons. Very much this. I have Nukeproof Electrons on all my bikes. The ones on my OO Fatty are 8 or so years old and still going strong. Great pedals. Another vote for Nukeproofs. I like them so much that I put some on my £5k full sus bike rather than using something blingy. ...

Re: Self inflating mat repair, slow leak
I've had a similar problem to what Whitestone mentions above with my Exped Synmat. Every so often it loses pressure overnight, I've checked for leaks in the mat itself and can't find any so have concluded that the problem is the plug that goes into the inflation port. If you inflate a mat in the la...

Re: Does it feel like winter everywhere?
I went our stand up paddle boarding today on the Clyde wearing boardshorts and a rashie, it was really warm, trying to make the most of us having better weather than you lot down south (which doesn't happen very often). https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51417787816_57e9c3edb1_c.jpg SUP by Jurassic...

Re: Does it feel like winter everywhere?
It's been roasting up here in Scotland (well our bit of Scotland anyway). There was some cloud at times today but it's still very warm and the days preceding that were really hot with no cloud and wall to wall sunshine once the overnight mist had burnt off.

Re: How to work out what size bike to buy when you can't try one in a shop
Just browsing the geometry for the Lux Trail and the seat tube length increases quite a bit with each size which makes things a bit more tricky in terms of being able to concentrate on the length of the bike rather than the height of it. It also potentially impacts on the ability to fit a longer dro...

Re: How to work out what size bike to buy when you can't try one in a shop
TBF, that Canyon doesn't look particularly Long, Low or Slack. It has a Racing Ralph on the rear so I'm expecting it to be more Euro XC. All things are relative, 67degree head angle, 74.5 seat tube angle is pretty up to date for XC/trail riding and the top tube is longer than the equivalent size Ra...

Re: How to work out what size bike to buy when you can't try one in a shop
Ideally, look up the geometry of bike(s) you already own or have owned previously. If you've owned something similar before, then it's far easier to make an educated guess. I suppose coming at it fresh, is quite difficult ... no help whatsoever, sorry. Here in lies the problem, I've never owned, or...

Re: How to work out what size bike to buy when you can't try one in a shop
I think that if you have another bike (of that category) that you like riding and feel comfortable on then you can use that as a good starting point, albeit it's often good to take into account the latest design influences and trends before making your choice. As an example I had been riding and lov...

Re: Lights, Exposure still the go -to?
I borrowed a Sixpack from my LBS to try out and whilst it was very impressive I ended up buying a Toro. The Sixpack is quite big and I felt it was overkill even on technical trails (although I always night ride with a helmet light as well for techy riding). I've been more than happy with the Toro an...

People's Front of Judea....... If that's 'us' (as in BB users, no matter what their opinion is on championships being called out by some party), then Essentially Golazo organise this and they are a big international company and one that have been pushing the UCI to recognise gravel as separate cycl...

Re: Bikepacking when you're broken?
Tying in with what Alpinum said above, I've recently ridden the Cairngorms outer loop then a couple of weeks later the inner loop. The outer loop (which is longer and has more rideable terrain) came highly recommended (rightly so) but I actually enjoyed the inner loop more despite the fact that it i...

Re: Bikepacking when you're broken?
I'm another fan of shorter rides but incorporating an overnight stop. I've always enjoyed camping and bivvying and have found that including that in any of my activities adds to the enjoyment I get out of them. This has meant that I've done backpacking, canoe/kayak camping, motorbike camping and mor...

A couple more pairs of 100% Brisker gloves in preparation for the autumn. I already have two pairs that have been used and washed to the extent that they've faded from orange to a fetching shade of pink! This time I've opted grey and black colour scheme in the hope that they'll eventually fade to a ...

If you do consider a new bar roll type set up I can highly recommend the Acepac stuff that Stu sells. I got the version with the separate dry bag and harness and also got the extra bag that attaches to the front and am really impressed with it all. It's really well thought out with some lovely desig...

My Garmin Edge does something similar, it bleeps whenever I get my wheels off the ground. I'm not sure where it records it, I knew it had the feature but have never been interested enough to rtfm.

a Merc Vito may suit you more if used to Audi - just check for rust. No need to check really. Mine was really clean when I bought it, I went crazy with Waxoyl in all the internal cavities and it still rusted really badly. The rust just came through in the middle of panels with no apparent cause (no...
