It's quite fun to add the same start and end points to various and see how they differ. eg, Kentmere to Coniston: OS vs Komoot vs RideWithGPS vs cycle.travel vs Tarmacs. as someone who dislikes cars and motorbikes, this is a terrible thing.
But the last time i went over the monks trod, it was in a terrible state, and cycling it or trying to was pretty crap.
so if any work done on it makes it more usable, well it could be seen as a good thing...... kind of.

a proper type 2 80 miler yesterday. crossing the whole of the yorkshire Dales from north to south. started on the A66 at Appleby in Westmorland and finished 8 hours later at Otley. i was blaster by wet rainy westerly winds the whole route. proper drenched, and icy cold mostly. i have a full Dtour bike, and it is fantastic.
9 spd with bar end shifters. very reliable.

and Spa are possibly the best bike shop i have ever used.

i can put loads of routes together making the distance and height. but the one we have planned is a continuous climb with no descents.

long shot possibly, but i am looking for a pair of Jtek or similar thumbshifter mounts. to mount some bar end shifter to flat bars.

or a nice pair of 9 speed thumbshifters or sti's.

sorry,i should have made it clearer. going touring in france in the summer.
1st days ride is 100km but climbing up to 1500 metres from a start at 100 metres.
Mrs T is a bit worried, so we were gonna try and few training rides.

doh, sorry for the idiocy.
rode the Pass of The Cattle a couple of years ago.
could do 2 in a day with low gearing, so this answers my question kind of.
