Re: Merino base layers

merino is pretty horrible when damp.
it is ok to wear to keep warm when not doing exercise.

my fave base layer is a north face synthetic one. very very thin almost like ladies tights material.
been trying to find another, but so far failed.

Andy i ran a xcaliber 9 last winter for about 6 months. in that time, the trek own frand hub exploded. it is a obscure boost 141 design. so normal 135 or 148 hubs dont fit. it also came with shimano spline hub and carrier, which is also pretty poor and flimsy feeling. i paid a grand for the bike, wi...

Re: 9 speed MTB gearing questions

i have changed both my bikes back to 9 speed. from 1 x 12 largest sprocket is a 36 tooth. 22 front 36 back feels better to me than 30 x 51 on a 12 speed set up. 12 speed stuff feels like it is gonna break all the time. a 8/9/10 speed cassette should fit on a hg freehub body. i asked surly about this...

Re: is a plus bike designed from the tyres up ?

My solution to all this is to have a fat bike and just stick lots of different wheels n tyres on it. Only thing Ive not tried is 29+ which may be pushing it. Or not.
that is what i am hopefully doing with my ecr.
1 set with 29 x 3 and 1 set with 29 x 2 touring tyres.

yes it is the ecr.
just measured the bb height. it is the same as my disc trucker. never noticed the low bb thing, even offroad.
