FS: Salsa Marrakesh frameset

For Sale - Salsa Marrakesh frameset - 54cm, beautiful turquoisey green "bianchi" colour. I THINK it's approx 2016 vintage, bought as an unfinished project off e-bay in unridden condition and I've used it as a commuter for a few years. It therefore has a few scratches, but is in otherwise p...

Perhaps a little too far East but the Woods near Wylands Smithy are pretty nice - just watch out for the Druids!

Re: Places of interest off the beaten path in North Wales

Llanddwyn island (tidal) in the South of Anglesey is definitely worth a visit - great swimming and jumping off rocks in Pilots Cove when all the boats have gone home.

FS: Planet X XLS Carbon Cyclocross Frame + Fork

Planet X Carbon XLS Cyclocross frame/ fork for sale. Well used but well looked after, some scratches but never crashed. I reckon £200 posted would be a fair price but happy to take offers. Frame and fork are both clear-coat finish showing the black carbon weave - no decals. Size Medium/54cm Pictures...

Re: Dorset Gravel Dash - GPX

Nice to see a few other are in for this - see you there, or in the pub I guess..

First time riding in this area for me and doing the 100 on Sunday.... looking forward to it, but hoping that the gravel will be gravelly enough to slow down my very fit roadie mate who has never been off-road before.

Dorset Gravel Dash - GPX

Hi - does anyone have the GPX file for this Sunday's ride (100m route)?

I can't find it anywhere online and haven't got it on e-mail from the organisers (or i've deleted it by mistake)

cheers

Notwithstanding what it might say on this link, I like Racing Ralph as a good around summer tyre. Fastest I have used have been Specialized Renegade, but you have to KNOW that it's going to be bone dry - not great for the British summer.

Thanks everyone

I'll give the Genetics a whirl I think based on these recommendations - reasonable price too... result :-bd

If they don't work out - you'll see them back on here for sale soon enough.

Flared drop bar recommendations...

Who's using what... Aplkit? Midge? Cow/Woodchipper? Any big differences you've experienced? - particularly between the OnOne and Alpkit options which have an obvious attraction at £20? Don't want to say what bike it's for as it will probably flip the swear filter into overdrive! - think "relaxe...

Re: Bikepacking in Berkshire

The narrow strip of woods just South of the Ridgeway track opposite Waylands Smithy is pretty nice and a bit less signposted than the Smithy itself if you're worried about unwanted attention from the Druids. There's also a well sheltered hollow in the top of the Uffington White Horse hill which is p...

^ Oh Yes!!

thanks for all the tips folks - not sure whether or not they have calmed my nerves, but have certainly helped me to formulate a mental plan (of sorts) for the weekend.

Re: 24hr event advice

Thanks folks - a very quick consensus there - keep going as long as possible + optional short nap at dusk. I have no illusions about being up there with the "good solo racers" but you get out what you put in so I want to do as much as possible. Go slow and keep going will be my approach I ...

24hr event advice

I have ended up with a late-notice place in the Solo category of the Mountain Mayhem 24hr MTB race/event/thing at the weekend. I've done this before as part of a 4 person relay team, but never solo, so I'm trying to figure out a good "sleep/rest strategy" for the event. Clearly I need to b...

I'm all for piling in to jobs I've never done before and learning as I go along...but in the circumstances of this being a new bike, not set up right, repaired once badly already - I think I would persevere with Go Outdoors and make sure you don't end up spending a load of time and money trying to f...

Re: To fat for the fred...

Of course, things may have changed with the explosion in popularity of road biking, Crikey, how much and assos in recent years but... when I rode the Fred (about 7 years ago) there was nothing elitist about it at all. It was a bunch of nice, down to earth people who organised an excellent road cycli...

Superb event - big thanks to everyone involved in organising and the great marshals, and volunteers at the food stations. Steady 12hrs for me with no punctures, mechanicals, "eaten" brake pads or other dramas and the mid afternoon blizzard added a nice touch of drama to the event....thanks...

Subject to arrival time...sounds good - be good to meet some of you guys.

My riding buddies are mates with the Grit.CX folks too Greg so this could already be in the plan...although we are staying at the activity centre place rather than the fully booked campsite.

Re: getting started with wheel building

+1 for the Roger Musson book - it's comprehensive and easy to follow. Best £9.00 you will spend... As Roger explains in the book - rear wheel dish (or disc brake dish on front wheels) isn't actually that complicated, making sure you get the right spoke lengths (calculator on his Wheelpro website) is...

Never ridden at Kielder before.... will Schwable Sammy Slick 700x35 do the job?...more tread needed if it's wet?
