Re: Advice and guidance reqd. - water carrying and frame bag

Apologies for my water bottle OCD, but I have a phobia of running out of water : ) First photo is from the Kiwi Brevet, and the next one, the Tour Aotearoa. In the Kiwi Brevet I used radiator clip mounts. In the Tour Aotearoa I used the insulation tape technique. This technique was great EXCEPT in t...

Re: Tour Aotearoa starts this sunday !

Some of my pics from the event: https://www.flickr.com/photos/12617230@N03/albums/72157665070534153 When I got back to Christchurch I went for a spin around Banks Peninsular. On the way I bumped into Shane Davidson who is the SPoT dealer in NZ and who was responsible for the event tracking as I str...

That looks damn fine! I just picked up mine, in my lunch hour, a custom built for my small karate monkey. Its 6cms across for the record.

Kerry at Klite is doing these. http://www.klite.com.au/#!product/prd1/4376949905/%27anywhere%27-2-hole-bottle-cage-adapter I have 10 of them in my hand at the moment. To be attached to frames with zip-ties or radiator hose-clips. oops, and these: http://www.klite.com.au/#!product/prd1/4389523035/sal...

Re: 10spd / 11spd cable pull

Hmm, nice to know that with the ratios being used there's enough space to modify with a few small shims. That said, I'm running a 9 speed (or should i say standard 1.7 shift ratio) XTR rear mech with a 10 speed road shifter for 10 speeds - it goes out of index with crap more easily than a 9 speed s...

Re: 10spd / 11spd cable pull

Yes, please report back, I love stuff like this! Ha ha, I just happened to be in his shop on Friday, he didn't want to share his hack to the wide world : ( but he said it was just a case of making some measurements and working it out in theory, and it worked first time. He basically attaches someth...

Re: 10spd / 11spd cable pull

Aren't the cassettes marginally different widths which would suggest a 10 speed mech won't have the range to cover it irrespective of pull ratio? 9 and 10 were the same so you could use 9 speed mech with 10 speed shifter. (That is cassette width rather than pull ratio...the mech just moves to where...

There is a local mechanic doing it here. Will try to get more details, it involves changing the cable routing. Pretty sure my buddy is running indexed 11 speed bar-end shifters with a 10 speed MTB rear mech.

Re: Dynamo hubs and lights.

There does seem to be a problem with bearings on the thru-axle version of some of the SP hubs. It seems very random. But I know two people that had theirs fail after a week of sporadic use. I have heard that the factory is doing some reingineering, and are very very good at sorting replacements. I j...

Re: Whats lighting your ride?

I have become a recent dynamo light user with the Exposure combo, Revo light and SP 9mm qr hub rebranded. A buddy told me about his back-up system so I tried it, and its vaguely exciting. I did a blog post on it here. I call it the PMD, poor mans Diablo. Cheap as chips. http://jeffsbike.blogspot.co....
