Re: OT. winter sickness bug ?
I've got some stomach bug - thought it was sheep poo related coupled with a weakened immune system from the BB at the weekend. Been on and off the toilet for 3 days now. Glad to know its not just me after the weekend then. Thought I was just feeling rough after my exertions over the 200, but then t...

Re: BB200 route.
For the November group The surface is 100% rideable. The gradient not necessarily so in a few places. Probably the most gravel bike friendly bb route I’ve ridden. Though a hardtail would be more fun on the single track and technical downhill. Gravel bike but with MTB gearing. Did that and struggled...

1 and only starter and finisher on the 300km route. 26:07 - lots of climbing, some weather, and zero sleeps. Top route, and now the only person in the world with 3 orange badges (except Stu who has 58) Thanks to Stu and Dee for the organising. Apologies for not having much chat at the end - was a b...

Anti seize or copper slip for going between dissimilar metals - steel against alloys, seatpost being the classic example, stuff that doesn't move, but you don't want it in there forever. Thick, moly grease for assembly parts like alloy bb cups into alloy frames. Thinner, lithium type greases for mov...

A new Lomo seatpack, a slightly larger Ti mug so my gas canister fits inside and a inflatable pillow because I'm getting soft in my old age. All in time for next weeks Tour de Cotswolds loop.

Looks like he stopped overnight between ascents. Well into stage 12 now and building a decent gap between himself and the peloton. I guess the rest days are where he has to make the most of given some of the transfers.

After much computer related issues, I'm in. Best go ride my bike a bit now then. I've always advised people to practice pushing, carrying and dragging their bike. The bits you can ride are easy.  :-bd True, I did it in 2017, lugging a loaded bike across a bog is a lot more physical than ...

Sorry for the post resurrection, but hoping I can have another crack at the BB200. So far my only event that I've entered and loved it. Is there a time that entries open on the 1st?

Re: Front mech brain fart
The alignment tool should have come in the box with the mech. Failing that, just follow the instructions and don't worry about it. I find the different settings make such a small difference, it can work fine so long as you get the cable tension correct.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike
Did the 300 Slow, loved it. Got round in a smidge over 24 hrs. My first 300km event, and judging by the feedback from others about as tough as an audax gets so quite tempted to try more in the future. Obviously helped by amazing weather, but I think I'll be back for the 400 slow next year. Thanks to...

Does the Shand Tam have the tyre space ? Always fancied going full custom at some point, so many good builders in the UK now. Just got to find the one that does what you want and knows how to achieve it

Ridiculous amount of money in current climate I'd say. Can't remember what I paid for the last incarnation of TransWales (Trail Masters) but if it was even a 5th of that I'd be surprised. Be interested to see what that sum actually gets you

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike
It wasn't the lane I was looking to cut, google maps streetview assured me of that. It was those few miles of the A458 up to that lane I was interested in avoiding. Or do you think its more hassle than its worth? With ya. No, I wouldn't bother, that section of the A458 isn't bad, gets worse a mile ...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike
Quick question, did you consider the possible lane/bridleway thats just behind the garage at Mallwyd on the A458 to avoid that bit of road? I was just looking at it and have no idea what its like, but OS shows the later half is a bridleway and rejoins on the small road you're using. I wouldn't, it'...
