I spotted Nate Gingzton earlier. vaguely exciting! No idea who they are, but just seen three peop...

https://medium.com/ is a pretty good place to post things, and use as a blog. I think it's essentially free. If it's for a set of posts that you don't want the trouble of running a full blog for it might be worth looking at.

Go north.
I did the bottom bit of the Pennine Bridleway a couple of years ago but would like to do the rest of it. So I'd ride from home to the start of it and then carry on to Scotland :)

Re: Bike packing somewhere warmish in December – Any ideas ?

I was in Morocco over Christmas last year, and I was cold. High single digits/low teens most days, Marrakech was mid teens iirc. Overnight in the desert was sub zero. When we were in the sun it was nice, but if you ended up stationary in the shade you'd cool down quite quickly. On the upside, it's d...

Re: Pro roadies do bikepacking

Something I've been trying on my ~30 mile round trip commute is doing the trip to work as gently as possible, not actually managing to only be in Z2, but I suspect I could if I bypassed the two larger hills, and then on the return journey actually try to attack it. So get a bit over an hour of ridin...

Re: Frame build query..

If you can find a local place to guide you it is a really useful experience (at least my experience doing it was)
I built a bike on a ~day course a few years ago, and since then have done it myself, only a fixie, not dealt with gear mechs etc, but I think I'd be OK :)

Re: LCHF diet on-the-road

An important point about that Stanford research, it very much wasn't a "normal" diet vs LCHF, it was a high carb diet vs a slightly lower carb diet.
30% carbs, 23% protein, and 45% fat definitely isn't LCHF.
Numbers from here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29466592

I think it's a fairly normal thing in ultra running Carlos Dones I've heard interviewed on a couple of podcasts: https://theketogenicathlete.com/episode-7-carlos-dones-is-a-ketogenic-ultramarathoner/ Also, there's also Tim Noakes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Noakes I've made up some coconut oil...

Re: Cairngorms loop seems a bit quiet this year

I definitely want to get back and actually complete it, but this year's way too full so far; wedding, new job, and an extension being built(and the builder being a pain) has left me to busy and stressed to get out :(

Re: tubeless advice please

In addition to everything else I've have them inflated over an inner tube for some time prior to attempting to mount them tubeless. I totally failed the first time I tried, because the kinks from how they'd been packed were just too much and stopped the bead attaching properly.

Re: Arm pain getting worse

+1 on the physio thing. A couple of years ago I had a really annoying recurrent pain in my left arm, which I thought was tendonitis. Physio diagnosed it as a tear in the Extensor Carpi Ulnaris (I think, it was aducting that was the problem) forbade me from riding, and gave me some stretches, and it ...

Sort of nearly off topic, but nearly the same topic, has anyone got/heard of/tried the Catalyst Pedal? https://pedalinginnovations.com/ I have listened to some podcasts talking about them, and their arguments as to how well it works are compelling. The direct relevance being once you have a pedal th...

I decided to drive when going to do the Cairngorms loop, from the Midlands.
Even a rough petrol & time estimate showed it quite a lot cheaper and faster, at least once you got past Glasgow.
