Re: Going rigid? Or not

That and the servicing is the major reason that when my forks that came with the bike collapsed I decided to get rigid forks. I also didn't want to be a couple of days ride from getting home again with collapsed forks.

Re: Going rigid? Or not

My HT (charge cooker 3) went rigid with Sinuglar rooster forks on it after the Rockshox XC forks I had collapsed on day 2 of a trip and were unfixable. I spent the next 2 days with a rather slammed front and less than great handling. I think I just went with the A-C measurement. I really like the st...

Re: Hebridean Way (No extras)

Ah right , had no idea about peerie Friday and asked a few shetlanders who didn't either. Yeh Simmer Dim bike rally is either the weekend before or after the solstice depending on his it falls. If we ever did an event we could do the opposite weekend (seems to mainly piss it down for their weekend)....

Re: A bit of stove advice please (and bbul22g vs trangia)

My stove is basically this https://vimeo.com/64726512 But made with a small energy drinks can so even smaller than a coke can. I made a windshield from heavy duty foil and it all fits inside a 650ml Ti mug with matches/firesteel and bit of cloth for wiping and holding the handle and a small insulati...

Re: Hebridean Way (No extras)

October and November are definitely not prime cycling times in Orkney or Shetland  Just depends on how character building you want your trip to be, atleast it rarely gets real cold, no midgies then and no tics. I met a lad the other week on a 26er who'd had to resort to hitching with his bike t...

Re: Hebridean Way (No extras)

Yeah, sounded a bit 'Shetlandic'

If you (or anyone) are ever coming up this way give me a shout. Though there's little off-roading to be done other than a few short routes to very lovely coastal areas there's lots of nice on-road touring to be done.

A sedate trip around Easter Ross and Sutherland

So my September trip didn't go to plan as my friend was pretty unfit from 3 months at sea and got a sore backside on the first day, but we had a good bit of fun on quiet roads and easy estate tracks. Knocked on a few bothies doors and even used the tent I'd taken as a just in case measure. We got a ...

Re: Shelter/bothy near Inchbae lodge?

Just back at my mates house after a different trip than planned. Will write up and video when home, but the fishermans lodge appears to be what Alladale estate's shows as their 'Badger Hide' on the estate interpretation panel. It basically a very nice hide over looking the river with a stove, benche...

From the Big Agnes site...

Enter the Columbine Skirt; filled with a warm layer of synthetic insulation and a quilted design to be flattering and not bulky

The sport pursuit link is a different model the down zirkel, not what you posted originally. Mystery over :-bd

Re: Does my bum look big in this?

I'm sad so looked it up with a view to a possible prezzie for my wife for an extra camping layer as she get a cold backside  I'd imagine she might like it over leggings in camp.

I see its not actually down, but synthetic.

Re: Not great gaiters

I just use pretty cheap bog standard gaiters, but I get ones that fit and wear them properly, not like that

I also fit a small cable tie between my bottom shoe lace loops/holes to hook the gaiter over to save wearing through the laces. Top Tip :-bd
