Re: Cairngorms loop 2020

Well done Phil.
Good to bump into you.
That must be a resident badger as that's the only one I've ever seen in pretty much the exact spot when I done the loop in 2017.

Re: Carbon 29 plus fork wanted

I picked up a used trek 1120 carbon fork with the front cradle included. Bit more than I hoped to spend but at least I know it should be good and the cradle should be a good option :-bd

Re: Hope end caps

Make sure you REALLY don't need the QR ones, because they're pretty thin on the ground. Took me ages to find any a couple of months ago. I've still got another 2 sets of front and a rear set spare😀 not sure how I ended up with so many tbh just seem to have collected them over the years. Cheers for ...

Re: Dales Divide back on 29th August... yay (but is it still accessible!)

Well after getting to Arnside at 12.30am I parked and slept in the van on the main street. Set off with the bunch at just after 8 Lots of road riding. then on a small section that was really overgrown and boggy I had a very stupid clipped in fall and smashed my right knee of a big rock. I was only a...

Re: Dales Divide back on 29th August... yay (but is it still accessible!)

Ah shame... could give you a lift from Carlisle but that's not much help is it? Maybe an alternative: https://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17983 ? Cheers mate. I'm down but not out. Managed to get a mobile tyre fitter that says he has stock. Due at my house in next 15 mins...

Perth Scotland
Its about 3.5 hours drive. If it was only an hour I'd risk it. But not worth the consequences of a blow out or 3 points.

Re: Dales Divide back on 29th August... yay (but is it still accessible!)

Well that's me out.😡 Just filling the van with fuel and happened to glance down at back tyre to notice it's bloody through to the canvass. Other side is nearly as bad and only have 1 spare and tyre garages are closed! Paid far too much attention to the bike and never gave the van a second thought!!...

Re: 29 plus carbon fork options

There's also the Salsa Firestarter? There is but Its £690! Hmm. I usually don't mind increasing A2C a little but 40mm seems like quite a big reduction. For a bike that is likely to be ridden well loaded, I'm not sure that "quicker steering" is a benefit either. Slower steering usually feels a bit m...

Re: 29 plus carbon fork options

So prong or the 1120 one I think.
Prong is a bit shorter A2C so that will quicken the steering and slightly lower the bb height but not really noticable correct?
