As you've got the Solarismax on the list, then an alternative is the Santa Cruz Chameleon.

You're not the only person to feel this way so some guy in the US has created shorter arms.

Richpips talk at Alpkit Keswick

As I haven't seen any comments on either here or Singletrack, I thought I'd just say how good it was. Rich and Tom managed to keep us entertained for over 3 hrs. Plus Alpkit provided drinks and snacks. Just a pity there were so few people.

Re: Tick Tweezers

Genuinely interested in where you've read that. Care to share? AFAIK neither is better than the other, the key is to pinch the tick just above the skin so it can't disgorge its guts. This is the reason twisting isn't recommended with tweezers, because you can't rotate you're wrist very far and keep...

Everything I've read suggests the twisting versions are more effective. Certainly never had a failure on me, hedgehogs or the dog.

Re: Laminating printed maps

I use Ortlieb map cases in A4 and A3. You can roll them up and tie them to you. If you use 2m of cord, you can hand the map to someone else and worse case it'll drag along behind but you don't lose them Alternatively you can use the plastic A4 and A3 inserts for folders and seal them with sellotape....

Re: What gear options?

Thought I add this after the weekend. I was thinking of slagging the part off as cheap Chinese rubbish especially as this happened with 50 miles to go. But hindsight has made me realise that it saved my frame. I don't know what I hit but the jockey wheel broke and the cage was bent sideways. I remov...

I went to a talk by Mark Beaumont, current round the world record holder, a few weeks ago. The only question I could think of was what saddle did he use. The answer is the Selle SMP Pro.

Re: What gear options?

Unfortunately I stated the wrong range, it's a HG500 11-42. I must have been looking at something else and the numbers stuck in my head. Merlin cycles are selling them for £27.50. I got mine from Bike-discount.de, approx. 30euro, but I'd ordered enough to get the free shipping.
