Re: What are you reading now?

Just finished Lionel Shiver's - Big Brother.
No not yet more Orwellian stuff.
It's about having an obese brother, ( I have a morbidly obese son ) I hoped for hope and got none. He'll be obese until it kills him. I doubt he'll see 50.
Just gotta love him while he's here.

Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!

Just read Big Brother - Lionel Shriver about an obese big brother. Having an obese son I hoped for hope and got none. He'll be big his whole short life. Love him while he's here. "As the brother, Edison, explains in the novel, “I used to look pretty good. Then I didn’t. That’s the point. Once I...

Re: WRT GR's

I had a route going out to Aberystwyth ... then back through Hafren .... that's out the window Even in previous years I don't think I've ever plotted a route picking up more than one or two GRs. Whilst I'm generally a misanthrope and I'd be happy enough being alone on a trip, WRT is different, and ...

Re: WRT GR's

So I'm assuming it's all primarily NE of BB towers this year ? Yes. E & NE Cheers. I've already plotted a route for myself, my son and a couple of mates and were heading due South through Hafren, only because the route is known to us, I'm confident my son could ride it, and it allows us some ca...

Fresh Fruit is undoubtedly the DK's finest moment. I remember listening to it coming home from school in 1983

As we've kinda just touched on analogue, I'm hoping for a cheery Friday as this is coming tomorrow. Apologies in advance as it's now a certainty that the next 4 weeks will be very wet. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBV8IfVKgku1_x4Px0b-TxAmX62ahVS-HNon8MCTJ4Si4YSGZKDupiy...

I'm 57 and am equally happy with imperial or metric, usually swapping between the two in a single measurement, cm/inches especially 6" is 15cm and and flop between the two randomly. But I just can't be doing with cycling in km. I appreciate they tick over quicker and the numbers are bigger for ...

not overly challenging and seems to be quite a good use of the raft to allow you to follow a route you couldn't do without one. "This route has an overall difficulty of 8 out of 10. Physical Demand (8.5): With a max gradient of 22.9%, this route has 7,838 feet (2,389 metres) of climbing over 1...

@Godivatrailrider (I can't sort out the quote thing) . I read 'Foster' on a ferry 18 months ago and watched the film 'The Quiet Girl' based on the book last year. Excellent writer, I also read 'Small Things Like These' on the same trip, that has just been filmed with Cillian Murphy in the lead. Not...

It's all ups and downs no official weigh in with Pancakes and then my first attempt at meringues for Valentines Eton Mess ... they didn't stiffen up as much as I hoped (it's my age apparently) so were a bit chewy.

Currently Wifedom ... about Orwell's invisible wife Eileen .. How was it? Assassinatory. Orwell was patently a complex man with significant issues, and I for one don't think he was without massive flaws in his character and behaviour towards women. But Funder does a cracking job of highlighting the...
