It’s interesting to see what ratios other people run. I use 32/16 with 26” wheels; not that I would ever attempt the BB200 with that ratio.

Has anyone watched the soul of a cyclist? I was wondering whether it was worth watching.

Looks good, I’ve not ridden in the Peak District, so I fancy this. Is there a limit on number of entrants?

Re: Sept with Sean (and Andy, and also Reg, Verena, Hux and Ralph)

Great write up. I remember having the idea of cycling from London to my homeland of the Wirral, I thought it would be a nice easy pootle. A reccy ride as far as Leamington Spa soon put paid to that idea. Even with 3” tyres and a suspension fork it still beat the hell out of me and as you say, you re...

Crack n fail

That’s what everyone told me when I bought my Cannondale 1fg ultra back in 2003. Also got told that the headshock is sub standard and won’t last.

20 years on it’s still going strong. When I bought it, it was everything I wanted in a singlespeed and it still is.

I just love riding it!

Count me in please. As much as I enjoyed last year’s event, I preferred it when it was smaller and more low key. Also excited by a new route towards the coast!

There's an app called refill which shows where you can get water. Obviously not a lot of places on route, but it might come in handy.

Petrol in mid Wales for BB200

What is the petrol availability like near Bearbones towers? I managed to get some on Saturday, so that will get me from London to the Wirral to pick up my mislaid kit and back down to Llanbrynmair for the start. But will I be able to get petrol easily enough to get back down to London?

Nice one, time to get the highlighters out and get planning. Thanks Stu/Dee Bit miffed about the Strava ban although I could see it coming once the November date was added. Re: fat tyre pressure ?

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm assuming to manage such accurate pressures it's common to carry a digital pressure gauge ? Are there any go to units I should look at? I doubt the gauge on my cheapo track pump is accurate enough. Track pump one is very inaccurate. I use a Topeak digital gauge, but...

Re: fat tyre pressure ?

Playing around with pressures is all part of the fun. I just tend to go by feel these days depending on conditions and terrain. You will soon get to find the sweet spot between bouncing all over the place and thinking WTF is happening to my steering. The Jumbo Jim's are good all round tyres, but you...
