Re: Tour Divide 2022 - SLarge's write up

It's taken me about 5 years to want to go do something long again. I completely understand that feeling post TDR. It's a strange sort of ennui, but it will pass.

I was going to suggest general core and physical conditioning.... but if we're ignoring that...sure, buy more stuff. That always masks a problem

Re: Today's Run

A nice 17km with a work colleague over the moors yesterday before it got properly hot. I only took one bottle and rolled the dice on the spring I know about still running - which it was :) Great to be out for a run over 2 hours, if only just. But the first real feeling that I can actually start to r...

Re: Todays ride

Aim was for a lumpy ride (1,000m) in a short distance (50km) on the road-ish bike with the new bike fit I got for next years plans. Was warm leaving the house at 0930 and peaked at about 30 degrees on some of the climbs. Definitely a two bottle day. Took in a lot of climbs I knew, and one long one I...

Brain wonders if this would be eligible for the OMM....lots of space, high headroom, groundsheet is sewn into bugnet. Hmmm... intrigued.

Re: #TCRNo8

That's scary, do we know where she slept? The proverbial bus shelter I believe (which infinitely better than a ditch  ) It has brought up some old issues about riders, and especially women riders, safety when they can be tracked down to a few metres. In the past, some have asked organisers to ...

Re: Vosges - riding?

Plan is for the French side. We're going to spend time dotting about back and forth, but no fixed plans.

I'm aware of the Grand Ballon as a climb, but not much else! Need to get myself a 1:50 map and have a look.

Vosges - riding?

Anyone spent anytime riding MTB/gravel in and around the Vosges?

Off there for a week with family and can get out for a few long rides in between wine/castle sampling.

Will probably have gravel bike with me as I want to do some road riding too, so less bikepark more XCMTB.

Re: Todays ride

Shaf,

The "castle" is Stoodley Pike" it's nowhere near Rawtenstall :) It's between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.

The cobbles, not the Pennine Bridle way, it's the trail down into Lumb falls. Quite a nice, technical, steep descent. Horrendous push up it.

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.

Re-routes are usually emailed as a word doc, and or if short enough, sent as a text by Matt. Usually, they are straightforward enough, and at that point you should have already considered that it may happen. I had all the previous re-route/alternates pre-loaded in my GPS that had historically been u...
