Re: Today's Run

Its the dark kind of grey outside now ;)

It's the cold that'd doing my head in. I just want double digits for a few days. Really getting bored of running in long tops and legs at this point. Its March FFS.

Re: Monks trod - wtf

WOW...I really can't think of a bog less suitable to a motorised vehicle than Monks Trod. Let them have at it, after a few hundred go through they may just about be able to get across it on their carcases.

One of very few trails I swore I would never ride again.

Re: Barkley Marathons chitchat

Apparently Jared C waited for her before they started, then let her choose. Seeing as he already has three finishes, this feels like quite a wonderful sporting attitude.

As for easier, i guess in a way its supposed to be less hard.

Re: Today's Run

Big week culminating with a weekend in the Dales teaching navigation and gettin battered by the weather on Saturday. Unsurprisingly, now sick. Either way, another 70km and 2,400m vert in the bag for the week, which was nice.

Re: Today's Run

To and from work as is normal for a Tuesady and Thursday. Unexpected snow and ice this morning, but also a stunning purple sunrise!

Total of 18km, lots of up, lots of mud, usual offroad not on road.

You'll have been a vet since aged 40, sadly...M40 - 50 is one of the fastest age brackets in fell racing :)

Re: OT: Cheapest way to (entering) a trail half marathon!?

Don't think I've read anywhere that we can't use gps, so hoping to record/navigate with the watch too (but will recheck this). Any excuse to buy a new shiny OS map (if I've not already got them squares in the ones I already own). It's an FRA race - you CAN'T use GPS to navigate. You CAN track the r...

Re: Today's Run

Dropped off on this thread...

Usual few weeks of intermittent orienteering races and training. But still in recovery mode after my ankle injury. Managing to get back up to 50km weeks now, which is nice as the weather is finally perking up!

Re: OT: Cheapest way to (entering) a trail half marathon!?

Found myself a marathon. Trail focused but not (as hard as a standard) 'fell race' as such. Best part, it's £22 so proper Yorkshire pricing. Plenty far away to train for it and then hopefully recover in time for bb200. https://www.kcac.co.uk/club-races/yorkshireman/  Few friends have done thi...

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera

My opinions... £500 second hand may limit you to a reasonable body (albiet a few years old) and you'll need to look at the possibility of spending a bit on glass unless you have some old manual primes lying around.... and you can use an adapter on a mirrorless setup. FWIW, most of my images are on a...

Re: OT: Cheapest way to (entering) a trail half marathon!?

Go look at the LDWA events (Long Distance Walkers Association) - lots of cheap ones to enter.

And or, just get a train to Hebden and walk/run home on the Pennine Way :)
