Re: Hebden to Edale part of PBW advice sought.

Look for Old Chamber Camping. Just up above Hebden Bridge - very simple. About 10 min walk down to the pub....20 or so back up :)

Re: Todays ride

Spring into the Dales Audax for me today. "only" 115km, but with 2,200m of climbing in it. Pretty much no flat. I'd done the perm. version of it last year, and "enjoyed" it, but fancied the calendar version as it's a bit different. Weather was excellent, enjoyed the 2km cycle fro...

Re: Who actually uses a guide book…?

Climber. I have many guidebooks. They've all been used. Extensively.

As a cyclist, less of them.

Runner, I've used routes, but mainly when running abroad with time-bound constraints.

We can't make the two Irish weekends sadly, apparently they won't let me off teaching for the week to go have fun ;)

Unsure how best to get to Paris and back from Yorkshire without flying, and also booking Yorkshireman-friendly accommodation
Ride to Dover - ferry - ride. Simple enough :)

Great to see you both gearing up for this. Weather should be turning better (ish) for your next few rides at least.

Re: JK 2023

Really good to see lots of young people coming into the sport. Loads of them. Not just the usual Scandi kids as well!

We're off to the 6 Day in Scotland later in the year as well. Planning on a bit of biking, may try out a MTBO race as well....

Quite an enjoyable weekend orienteering, niche sport that it is...

Going well so far. 11th in sprint, 17th in middle, 18th in long. Relays tomorrow. We’ve a decent team so we may do well!

Re: Today's Run

Has anyone overcome serious sciatica to start running again. I'm at the back end of it and started riding shorter (32 mtb miles so far is the record) distances again but whenever I've done a short run for errands of some sort, the numbness has almost come back immediately. I think I'm now at that s...

*old man moment*

You had computers at school? I remember in first year at university having to explain how to use a mouse to several fellow students... I was quite lucky to have grown up with basic computers at home thanks to my dad.

Re: Today's Run

Rest week for me, so I spent a lot of time on the bike. Went over on my ankle quite badly racing last weekend, so it synched up well with some rest time. Did an easy 40 min run last night and ankle felt ok so I decided to do a spirited hour today. Just under 10km, 400m vert, in an hour. All fell run...

Daughter now on a 20 inch wheel. This is up for sale.

Blue. Some Bonesstickers and other random things. It's been ridden, but not destroyed.

Raced yesterday, first time on a Brown course this year, nearly in a year at all! Felt ok, ran well for current fitness, great terrain. One major error on nav, but otherwise happy with my run.

Re: Today's Run

Out of curiosity what do you people use while running? Anything under 2 hours and I don't take any water unless it's brutally hot. Even then, I usually take 250ml max. I have a few springs locally, so I'll drink from them if I am passing, and detor to/via them on hot runs. This is local or not. I'l...

Easy hour up on the tops after work. Ground still frozen from the windchill and massive drifts between the crags. Almost tempting enough to jump into :)

Re: Today's Run

Ace! That's a chunk of time dropped. Orienteering yesterday, made some mistakes but nothing epic, came second. Thankfully snow didn't have too much of an impact on the race. Today, pants. Poor route choice, poor weather, legs not engaging. Either way, nice week with about 8 hours of running. Happy e...

Re: Today's Walk.

ALL the sledding with daughter today. Great conditions, probably about 5km of wandering around various slopes. Was going to bring skis with me but it was far too powdery for the little skinny skis.

Mega melt, followed by sub zero all night...should make orienteering tomorrow fun!
