Yeah, I believe so. My route was awful though, in part because I rushed it, in part because my bike started to fall to bits at the end of day two so I had to seek assistance.

Having looked,it seems they didn't snap, but came out if their holders. I think you're right not to trust them.

Vaguely weather related... Obliterated a brand new pair of waterproof trousers doing Snap of Snap, Crackle and Pop fame. Seems the Apidura binding elastic can't deal with that sort of punishment.
