Distance selling regs mean you can technically "cancel" the order no matter what they say anyway. Nothing they put in their T&Cs affects your statutory rights.

That's really helpful to me, thanks. Just put in an order for four different pairs (not keeping them all, will check out and return).

Re: cheap packable down/insulated clothing ??

I bought a half decent set of down trousers from Amazon. They aren't light, but they seemed pretty decent. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0728P95FB I've since replaced them with a spendy set from Cumulus, but I'd still recommend the original. Fat Viking. Norway in January. :-bd I really fancy ...

Re: Trial Period Saddles

I've just measured my narrow arse, and found that it is, indeed, narrow.

Looks like 130mm saddles are the sweet spot for me, which does limit my choice somewhat... I guess that's a good thing though, there are already way too many choices out there.

Re: GPS Unit of choice?

I bought the Edge 1040 for the battery life, which is unquestionably fantastic... but dear god do I hate the unit. It's slow, and the interface choices are a complete mystery to me.

I loved my Edge 1000, so this is especially annoying to me.

Re: BB200 2023

Curiously, the edition (of those I've done) that I enjoyed the most was 2018 - the really wet one with Javi and co playing at Indiana Jones crossing the log and the "interesting" stream crossings in Hyddgen. Given that I really, really hate rain and wind it's a bit of an odd preference. T...

Related to the topic, I was amused that Bikepacking.com have put together "fun" routes based on two of the BB200 rides.

Oddly enough it wasn't a decent week. Too much alcohol, not enough training, but I guess the stress resulted in a meaningful chunk of weight loss.

It just arrived, and yes... the bite valve is awful. Might try and swap in one of the newer Camelbak sorts (unless other can suggest better options).

I usually stuff a 2l or 3l platypus into my frame bag and run the hose out to my bars. However as I often find I don't drink enough/find it hard to monitor how much I have drunk, I'm wondering about wearing a running vest and stuffing a couple of squishy bottles into the pockets and then topping th...

I have the platypus shapeshifter Rich. It's a 3L that compacts into 2.5 or less with an internal baffle type thingy. Can be unattached easily so no need to unthread the hose. It also saved me drinking hot water on a trip to London in 30c. By popping it inside my down jacket as a sleeve and it kept ...

Thanks. Looks like a decent standalone option.

I guess the main disadvantage of that sort is that it would slosh around a lot when half empty (also half full).

Three litres. I'm basically starting to prep for another attempt at Badlands next year.

I think having four litres on my back this year was a decent part of the reason I screwed myself up.
