Re: 2 man tent ideas?

Budget is anywhere up to £150 I reckon. Less would be nice.

Wild Camping in Wales

I understand you guys tend to go wild camping when out and about. So far I've only used proper campsites, but that's a bit of a pain. I was just wondering, has anyone ever pitched up a tarp or tent only for some land owner or country park official to come along and tell you to bugger off? Now I've d...

Re: FS: Minipeak tent

Also can I just ask is the version 1 or version 2? Does it have the internal hooks for attaching the inner to the fly?

First trip out - write up. Vale of Clwyd

For anyone who might be interested, here is a write up on my first trip / kit try out. It's quite pic heavy, but hope you enjoy: https://bikepackingonabudget.wordpress. ... -06062015/

Re: 2 man tent ideas?

Other than the two Stu mentioned, are there any others worth considering. Most people rave about the Vango Banshee but it's a little on the heavy side I think.

2 man tent ideas?

Hey all, my first trip went great, I'll do a proper write up in the morning. One thing that I wasn't happy with, was my cheapo tent. Anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight 2 manner ?

Spot Tracker type app?

Is there some kind of app for an Android phone that would ideally allow me to simply whack a button and transmit my current location as some kind of Google Maps link via SMS to someone? Basically my Mrs is convinced I'm going to end up bleeding in a ditch, so my options to calm her nerves are phonin...

Re: 1st real attempt

I "think" this link will be to a dropbox folder where you can see the Out & In gpx routes. As I say, it's only a shakedown and probably child's play for you lot. Either way, I'm hoping to have an enjoyable time, I've also switched campsites to one with a resident pub! Out: https://www....

1st real attempt

Yep, enough talking about it. Saturday is my first attempt at bikepacking / cycle camping. It's a road ride, so navigation won't be an issue, it's more a trial of all the gear / packing / me. Make sure everything works. Route out is 30 miles, route in is 35 as I'm heading out of my way a little to v...

Re: The Welsh Lakes

Sorry folks, until I become more tech savvy (you'd never think I work in IT) you'll just have to trust that the route is interesting! Feel free to pm me email addresses and I'll foward the file on. Until then, in a nut shell: 83.2 miles, 10,379 feet of climbing, max altitude of 1,709 feet. Actually ...

Re: The Welsh Lakes

Ok here goes, I'm "attaching" now. This could go wrong.

Yep, went wrong. I can't upload anything as the file extensions are not allowed. Tried .gpx and renaming to .txt...... Anyone got any ideas?

Re: The Welsh Lakes

Well, whatever I've done has made you go awfully quiet  Haha sorry! I downloaded the file last night and loaded it in to BackCountry Navigator. Looks really good! I can't really get an idea of how horrific the elevation is at the moment, but I'm sure it's "adventurous". Would you ha...

Re: The Welsh Lakes

I guess it would be nice to add: Celyn, Eigiau, Elsi, Ogwen, Idwal and Gwynant. Has anyone done much riding up around the Nantlle ridge? Dorothea quarry is a genuine sight to behold, and the diving is epic!

Re: The Welsh Lakes

I think ootini has set a challenge... Honestly, I haven't. Well actually, saying that. I think I have, I'd love to do a tour and hit as many lakes as possible. Obviously skipping Anglesey, 'tis a strange place with strange folk, and it only has one lake worth looking at. Llyn Celyn is an interestin...

If I find the going easier than expected, I could always do two lakes in a day... Depends on how much Weetabix I eat.
