Re: Fitting tight tyres

I’ve got these (or something similar) which are handy for fitting tight tyres, I bought them as was struggling to fit some highly puncture proof Schwalbe Marathon Plus to my hack bike/occasional commuter. Bit too cumbersome to be lugging around though. https://www.wiggle.com/p/lifeline-tyre-seating-...

Re: WTD - Surly Krampus Medium

where are you based Roritor? I’m in SE London and contemplating selling mine but not really willing to post/courier

It’s a Medium Moonlit Swamp green one (the best colour) - bought 2nd hand as a rolling chassis with rabbit hole rims, and added a brand new SLX 1x11 groupset but have barely used it.

Planet X Kaffenback for £599 whilst stocks last - bargain at that price, would get one myself if hadn’t bought a 2nd hand Croix De Fer last year

I really hope the designer of this takes it onto “Dragon’s Den” for investment to see their reaction. If it’s got any Green credentials Deborah Meaden would invest

Re: What's your current dream bike?

quite happy with my down-sized collection of 4 at moment, be nice to have time to ride them, just as I acquired a Croix de Fer that I’d fancied for ages and was getting into the swing of riding regularly again my wife broke her leg so means I’m running around like a blue arsed fly looking after her ...

Re: Can we talk about Roman Roads? Please..

There's a byway near me marked as a Roman roadScreenshot_20220618-213314_OS Maps.jpg assume that was probably part of the same Roman Road that went near my Gran’s old house in Norton. Stourbridge - remember walking there with my uncle on visits - much preferred going to Kinver Caves instead though

maybe someone could clarify as I’m not sure what the rules are on the Tour Divide as regards to being self supported, does being bailed out by the mountain rescue team not mean disqualification ?

Re: Surly Krampus 29+ or similar?

I believe the consensus is that you can run a Kramp well enough on normal size 29er tyres. You loose a bit of BB height so need to be aware of increased risk of pedal strike. Tyres that narrow on a Rabbit Hole rim are going to be pretty squared out and may not ride too well. On the other hand you m...

Re: Surly Krampus 29+ or similar?

Contemplating either buying a set of normal 29er wheels for my Krampus (old Green version) or will it be possible to put narrower tyres onto my Rabbit Hole rims (thinking 2.3 or 2.4) ? Any recommendations please, cheers.

Re: Guilt issues over not riding.

I used to feel guilty if I didn’t get out for at the very least a few hours at a weekend and midweek during spring/summer which was difficult when kids were younger. Been having knee issues for last 10 months and haven’t been able to ride so now feel frustrated and depressed by lack of riding. After...

my 12 year daughter told me today that if you were able to fold a piece of paper in half 42 times it would reach the moon, which seemed like bollocks to me but a smarter mind than me has proved it to be true https://wwvv.codersrevolution.com/blog/will-a-piece-of-paper-folded-42-times-reach-the-moon ...

Re: Soooooo far OT - non / low alcohol beers

I got really into alcohol-free lager when we were in Spain. They have it on tap there even in little out-of-the-way bars and it's great - really crisp and refreshing without that 'drag you down' feeling of alcohol on a hot day. When we got back I went through all the ones I could find and my favour...

Invest in some sleeping bag liners and run around/do some star jumps, press ups or sit ups just before getting in bag, just enough to warm you up, you don’t want to get sweaty as this will make you cold later

interesting ... impressed by the pack size and low weight as I have a Berghaus 6 man inflatable tent which weighs a ton compared to my old vango 6 man with traditional poles and thus only gets used for (right next to the) car camping so I assumed there would always be a massive weight and pack size ...

Mine would be my white BSO "BMX MAGNUM" - I was very disappointed when I got it for my birthday as I had specifically asked for a Raleigh Burner like all my mates had at the time, it even had spot welded seat stays, I am surprised I never broke it as it got some real abuse, With paper roun...
