Re: Scam Alpkit Website

Sorry that you've had poor experience with Alpkit Shaf, but it's a good company, with decent aims and ethics.
Those scam sites are common - I've seen RAB and North Face versions.

Re: What are you listening to now?

This interrupted my listening of Napalm Death's "Throws of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism" My mate was chatting to his daughter's boyfriend and it turned out his step Dad is/was Napalm Death's lead singer - I presume Barney Greenway (ex Extreme Noise Terror and others). Tom's a big indie mu...

Brakes - try some bigger rotors, if you can, before changing calipers? After that, go cable actuated hydraulic - TRP?

The Trespass (Scotland) Act of 1865 disagrees :???: I had a pedal from Newton Stewart down to the Mull of Galloway around that week. Mostly on roads (v quiet ones) - down through Wigtown to the lighthouse and back up to camp at the castle ruin in Portpatrick. Loop north and back to Stranraer and the...

This is the route I’ve done a couple of times, it’s the original ‘Tour of the Cairngorms’ route that was in Phil McVanes ‘Scotlands wild trails’ book from years ago (a few years before the Cairngorm loop became a thing): https://www.komoot.com/tour/90880314 That route uses a fair chunk of unnecessa...

Re: Cairngorms loop

When you say "very top section", do you mean the highest section over Bynack Barns? If so, Wotsits probably has it - don't turn right over Bynack, but continue past Ryvoan and down onto forest roads past Forest Lodge and the outer loop. More likely I think, is that you've read about avoidi...

I'd ring Hope - I'd be surprised if they didn't sell you a shell. Go for steel.

I think 10 and 11 Spd MTB are the same size/width Mike, so you just need the spacer behind the cassette. No spacer if 11 Spd road cassette.

A pair of 29er Hunt XC Wide wheels (V1 or V2, I can't remember/tell). Set up tubeless (Hunt proprietary tape on rear, but replaced with Gorilla tape on the front, to get a 'baggy' tyre to seal).
