Re: 2025 - A year to look forward to? What are your plans?

Have you ridden the Frontier 300 before Jimmy? I can probably help with logistics and offer very convenient accommodation near the start. DM me if I can help. Thanks for the response Boxelder. No, I haven't ridden it before and I intend doing the two-day version i.e. starting on Friday 6th June. It...

Re: 2025 - A year to look forward to? What are your plans?

On the Bike: - Continue the BAM series. - The Pictish Trail (although I may miss out the northernmost section and just ride south from Inverness to Edinburgh) or might ride south to north. - Staying with friends in Girona for 7 - 10 days at the beginning of May and they're going to show me round th...

Re: Priority 600x pinion adventure bike

This (rather American yeehah) video takes a good look at the, slightly altered Priority 600ADX.

The chap rode it on his CT ride a couple of years ago.
Looks interesting and may answer some questions.

Pro Turnix on raod and gravel bikes, Ergon SM on MTBs. One of those Madison Flux 'Spoonalikes' on the SS I ride for work.
Have you tried lowering your saddle a smidge, if you're sat on less lardy padding?

Re: WTD: Looking for some 160mm 29er forks

I got some 34s from them with a GRIP damper and they've been fine. Sold as e-bike forks, but checking via the QR code on the forks, they're normal 'analogue' jobs. Not as plush as Pike Ultimates, but way, way cheaper. Guess it depends on how much performance you need.

I'd assumed from a quick GR looksee that they were all barns, though a few look unlikely. I just fancied an excuse to ride somewhere new and put faces to a few names.

Re: Winter Event GR

Cheers both, that's kind of what I thought. I'm planning a sort of clockwise loop, to hit Mach in the evening. Will depend on the weather, as will Sunday. So, the obvious questions....... rigid MTB with Mezcals, or something with suspension and grippier tyres.

Re: Winter Event GR

So being a newbie, I've started looking at route options, but does this text from the event info: "have a fixed destination(s) which gives each event its unique name … how you reach it is down to you." ....mean that there is a destination to reach on Saturday night, or does it just refer t...

I recently got a SH Roam V1 on Facebook, as I've gone dynamo and can charge it. So far, so good. It seems to just work and the app is pretty intuitive.

Why stay in a castle when you can have a perfectly good cave a short distance along the coast, St Baldred's Cave. That's next year's winter bivvy sorted then. "Inside the cave he found a layer of bones and charcoal some 0.3 to 0.6m deep. The bones consisted of animal (including some fro...

A shiny pair (set?) of Pike Ultimates, 140mm travel to go on a Nukeproof Reactor 290 carbon frame I put a semi speculative offer on. It'll be the first bike with more than 100mm suspension I've owned and will be shared with son (his Spesh Camber Evo frame and Pikes will be up for sale to reduce the ...

Hmmm, without roads or buildings, we have a 12sq Km 'block' 2Km to our NE and a 30+sq Km block to the SE. It's pretty much all 300m or higher though and not really habitable.

I've got two fairly waterproof and breathable jackets - a RAB Cinder stretchy thing and a GORE Infinium (which is really good and was £50 https://www.amazon.co.uk/GOREWEAR-Cycling-Jacket-GORE-TEX-INFINIUM/dp/B08DP6ZYW1?th=1 ). I'll wear these until it starts wetting through and then I stick on a lig...

Pretty easy bail out options at Penrith and Lancaster for a train.
