Re: Dropper post curious

Another Brand X + Top Peak thingy user here. Advantage of Brand X is that swapping to a standard post is dead easy - release the cable and go. Hydraulic posts are a bit more involved. the Brand X get rebranded as all sorts - I have a Bontrager branded version from years ago.

Re: Rockshox SiD Ultimate curious!

I've some SIDs going spare - SID RL, 120mm travel, 51mm offset, solo air, Motion Control, bar mounted lock out, 110x15mm maxle. Black and 1740g on my scales with remote and cable. Stickers are a bit tatty and the thread has gone on the hose clamp (could be re-tapped or use a self tapper, or a cable ...

Re: What are you reading now?

I took Rebank jnr (or one of them) for Bikeability last year. I think Mrs R has taken to writing too. I'm reading The Flow by Amy-Jane Beer https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/flow-9781472977397/ Easy to read, dip in and out of, and of interest to anyone who stops on bridges to watch rivers/becks/burns.

Wife, who's a Deputy Head, had to delay for 2 days as Ofsted decided the best day for them to turn up was the day we left Holiday in term time? :o Looks great. Enjoy. Very happy with my recent Rega Planar 3 50th Anniversary I've got a Rega Planar sat in a cupboard upstairs - redundant since 2016......

Re: What makes the black dashed line - rideable?

To chip in to the 'legality bit', there is, I believe, a bylaw specifically banning cycling on footpaths within open access land in the Peak District. I seem to remember it being a response, years ago, to cyclists using Fps along the gritstone edges, which was damaging SSSIs and the like. This is fr...

....a new pair of wheels - DT swiss 1900 (370 hubs and 500g, 30mm wide rims). Arrived already taped with tubeless valves, and only £200.

Not light or especially bling, but going on Solaris trail bumbler - I'll go with strong and cheap (and reliable hopefully)

 Test ride tomorrow

Last check-in was 2019 - have they brewed it again? Yeah - I'd spotted it on their FB page recently. Wasn't aware that they'd brewed it before. Just back from the cinema at Rheged, having seen the 'Reel Rock' climbing films. There was one about the climbing community in Palestine (West Bank). Reall...

That a quote from Katy's River crossings commentary? 😂 She's entertaining for sure. I liked the bit at the start of the Drumbeg roller coaster road when she says "thank god, nearly there", and he gives her that 'oh dear' look 😁

My Spearfish is DUB. SRAM original was pretty short lived, but replaced with Nukeproof and it lasted a couple of years. Just replaced, though only one side was gone really. Heavily reduced if you don't mind green: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/nukeproof-horizon-bottom-bracket-sram-dub-bsa?co...

Re: Riding the Gr5 (ish), Montreux to Nice

Flights to Geneva and from Nice. Train to Montreux is regular from the airport. Mate booked huts, hostels, hotels and we ate in/near them. Packed lunches from hostels etc, as didn't pass open shops/cafes as often as we hoped. Not exactly cheap for 'bikepacking'. I reckon I could have ridden it in 8 ...
