Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

What's he doing now? He's missed the nice bothy and appears to be crossing the river downstream (shortcut?).

Re: HT550 Lift sharing thread

OK, I'm picking up one rider from Glasgow Airport Holiday Inn on Friday morning. Will have room for one more if anyone is short (of a lift, though in stature may be useful too.....).

I recced the first 70 (and last 45) miles so you don't have to
I'm planning to do pretty much the same, but in reverse, from Fri 27th.

I'm almost certainly travelling up from Keswick, via Penrith, Carlisle, Glasgow on Fri 27th. Leaving Keswick 7am, Carlisle 8am, Glasgow approx 10am. Can offer lift possibly. PM me here.

He's just at the high point of the whole thing. Was snow there last year and I'm guessing there may be again.

He'll miss his pizza if he's not quick

More company out there is a good thing in my view.
You didn't wait for me on the return over Devil's Staircase in the dark last year........

Re: Loch Ossian to Rannoch Station

Thanks Phil, I remember seeing that now last year as we passed Ossian YHA. I'll have a look at your suggestion, or reverse the new day 1. We're out for a leisurely Fri lunch til Sunday (train back to Tyndrum) if you fancy a wee trip? Just me and my brother - very easy pace and bothying (space permit...

Loch Ossian to Rannoch Station

Looking to ride from Culra bothy way, to Rannoch station. Anyone ridden the trail from Loch Ossian past Corrour Old Lodge, on the flanks of Carn Dearg? Looks well defined on sat image. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=240311&y=765098&z=120&sv=240311,765098&st=4&ar=y&mapp=...

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

Completing/attempting the route at the same time as the group start isn't the best idea. The limit to numbers on the group start is there for good reasons - pressure on limited accommodation etc. A couple of us will be setting off from Tyndrum Friday, but doing a different route (last years HT550 to...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail route.

Padonbike - you can see the green sign of the pie shop in the background of your pic. I think your bike is leaned against the B+B I stayed in - great value with no charge for breakfast when I said I'd be away around 4am, as she wasn't getting up to make it

Looks like he's well around the outer loop towards Tomintoul. Quite the effort in the conditions. More than I'd bite off, that's for certainsure.

Re: Cairngorm loop grp depart 2016

The riding in the forests around Glen Feshie and Rothiemurchus are as 'weather-proof' as anything in Scotland - why not set off and re-assess when you reach the Kincraig area, or just do the outer loop. Plenty of bothies and warm hostelries.

Re: Cairngorm loop grp depart 2016

Fraser - is that page easy to set up, or is there an easy way to make spot tracking work outside of event tracking pages? Anyone? Tracking is very hit and miss normally - only showing locations from which check in messages are sent.

Re: Dirty Reiver: 200k UK Gravel event

Finished clearing the course markings at 7pm - so cold out there today! Well done folks - hardly any litter and not a single hint of abuse towards marshals (if you've ever marshalled, you'll know what I'm talking about). Most of the (minority) litter was on the delightful descent to the road before ...

There are only a couple of Km where an MTB is better suited. the vast majority is better suited to CX with big tyres. Less spray if it's wet too.

Re: Dirty Reiver: 200k UK Gravel event

Tim, Did you access the room top left (above and left of the stair)? There's a vase of flowers in the window. I wasn't there long, but couldn't see how to get in. It is a really nice bothy - planning a trip with the kids. Andy p.s. plenty water at 60, 100 and 150 Km on the event, but the burns passe...

The brake pad eating stuff is only on certain tracks/trails, and mostly not on this route.
