I have an internal dignity which rises above any concerns about external fripperies and 'fashion'

Good call there, that monkey. My Hi-Tecs have just conked out so these may be worth a go. £32 in many places. 180g is a good weight. Given up with heavy boots these days - sandals and waterproof socks for me please.

Re: YD 30.0 & Cavepacking

Bob's done a top job round the corner with the next day's story, so just a few extra bits.... I must compliment him on actually riding and training it to Dent armed only with a very vague "I'll see you in Dent on Friday morning then", and that had been a couple of weeks previously, since o...

Re: A short ride with Reg

Really enjoyed myself thanks Bob! Good to have a bounteous supply of local knowledge to hand. I do realise the jockey wheel thing was a complete fabrication and an excuse to go so slowly that you wouldn't embarrass my geriatric speed too obviously  . You've kindly covered most of the info for ...

Re: YD 30.0 & Cavepacking

( well that's curious. In the shower just noticed five oily chain ring teeth marks neatly etched across my left shin. I have absolutely no recollection of it happening so I was either having loads of fun or the exact opposite). A PBW sign led me up a track which bent round to a farm where I was sava...

Re: YD 30.0 & Cavepacking

At this point I thought of toddling down the valley to Katnot Cave where it's possible to ride in the stream up the tunnel for a few hundred yards. Stupidly I declined this option because time seemed to be moving on (kicked myself in retrospect - there's always time...), and instead called in on Hol...

Re: YD 30.0 & Cavepacking

From Selside I tried to sneak down the footpath/track to Old Ing but got rumbled by the farmer within 100 yards so it was back up to the road with my tail between my legs. After this I thought it might be taking the wee to pay my 10p to the same bloke so I could go up the hill to view Alum Pot, and ...

A quick visit to Austwick Beck Head for Stu's first photo. This is a powerful resurgence for many holes higher up. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51365210038_b8bcdc80a7_z.jpg The vague idea then was to follow the bridleway over to Selside. After the event, Mr Wightman claimed that it was 'a wid...

YD 30.0 & Cavepacking

Mrs Perrin has gone off with her old school mates to Malham to, apparently, recreate their Geography field trip of 45 years ago. This involves, apparently, the necessity of sojourning in what I believe is called a/an 'hotel' or a 'public house' of some description. I'm told that these places provide...

Re: May Monkey Brain

Ooh, goody! Not had an existentialist thread for a while, nice one V. Paradoxically, one could argue that many people (in the 'Western World' at least) have never had so many opportunities and chances for things and pastimes with which to amuse themselves and fill their brains up. And maybe therein ...

An interesting experiment might be just to slather actual 100% honey onto your bits. I suppose that would attract bears though. Maybe even Bears, I don't know.
