It's down the back of the sofa. Always amazed by what I find there. Could be anything.

Unbelievably David Bowie reputedly named Ziggy Stardust after him, as he was a big fan!

Re: What are you reading now?
I didn't buy it...... and I've not found it anywhere else I reckon there's a whole new thread on offer there Phil. "Things I was so close to buying, didn't at the last second for some unfathomable reason, and regretted it ever since". My two starters-for-10 are somewhat obscure, and from ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
Another corker, and more high-bar-setting. Really going to have to sharpen my act up. Love the eyyyyyyyyyyes photo. Most unnerving having those watching you all night I would imagine. It was going to be on the W.E. but you know ... It struck me last night that that is still an option, with the Satur...

Re: What are you reading now?
Now those books look spot on to me. Cheers, Keith I mean just look at that slate staircase on the front of the Corris book. Does that not.. no, OK, fair enough.... anyway, beautiful workmanship. I'm not quite sure it's the same as the one at Aberllefenni but will double-check on Feb 1st. Poor old F...

Re: What are you reading now?
Ta Bob, not seen that one, will have a nosy... And, er, also it's a bit, erm, daft having Aberllefenni and Ratgoed without Corris as well, so my finger just slipped on ebay, oops. Mrs P wants to know why I'm smiling but I'm saying nowt. Well it's my birthday soon. I think I'm now fully covered with ...

Re: What are you reading now?
Bit daft having the Aberllefenni book without also getting the one for Ratgoed in the next valley . Very scarce book these days. Plenty of exploration food for the Winter Event anyway .

Yeah I need one of those animated gif thingies like on netknots.com. That would much make it much clearer - knot! I mean "not!" . Talking of lines I'm fiddling around with some 1.2mm luminous dyneema for the DCF tarp. Next experiment is got some graphene line on order, single...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
A flying start there our Sean.
Two hours later I'm still trying to get my head round this though: "This enables the loop on the guy and the loop on the top of the peg to be threaded through each other". My brain must be frozen up!

Re: What are you reading now?
Nowt to do with biking, but no doubt very familiar to generations(?) of Boners tramping the valleys up behind Mach - just bought a history of Aberllefenni Slate Quarry, the last commercial underground slate operation in Wales. It's not just about the rock extraction, although that in itself would be...

Re: What, no Mad Cow Weather thread??
Nearest are Caersws and Machynlleth. Very annoyingly Llanbrynmair station closed in 1965. I'll be doing the Caersws option riding via Trefeglwys and Staylittle, assuming I can get up the hill at Llawryglyn without tyre studs  . (website running very slow today or is it just me.... maybe it's f...

Re: What, no Mad Cow Weather thread??
Aye most unusual, JC is our usual weatherman.
I could do without icy roads biking from the station on Friday but all else is fair game really.
(Si, there's a nice spot a couple of hundred yards from the school )

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Connected to the fact that BBB events make substantial donations to Air Ambulance, I discovered that E Midlands AA will take old laptops, phones, other computer equipment etc for wiping / refurbishing / recycling. When ours became life-expired we just shoved them in the loft but it's time to do some...

Re: Winter Event GR
If anyone's stuck for partners in crime, Frog and meself are tramping northwest, half road half off-road. Maybe. Bear in mind we're OAPs so we'll be stopping for a wee every half an hour or so, nipping into the odd cafe, and there's even rumours of proper dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately there wi...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
So none of the cheating that went on last year! I think you'll find all bivvies were compliant with the guidelines as stated at the beginning of 2024. 😘 Well that's well spotted. Guidelines eh. Not yer actual Rules then. I should have read the [not so] small print. Puts a whole new complexion on th...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
I thought I was fairly squeaky clean last year! There were rumours of vague transgressions the previous one but I'm not convinced that any specific Rules were broken . Anyroad, 'tis all water under the proverbial now methinks .

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
Whilst stu has posted the rules can I just remind people that these are rules, not guidelines. So none of the cheating that went on last year! I'm in  Must've missed the cheating. Without naming anybody, what cheating went on? For me, much of the whole thing is about cheating normality, so ma...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Thanks for your inimitable cat-herding Phil :-bd . This really is my favourite little daft corner of t'internet. Without it I'd go completely sane. I used to do a lot of solo stuff but more and more I'm enjoying and appreciating the "team game", shared lunacy is so much sweeter and indeed ...
