Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Mrs P vaguely watching EuroV in the background. I've not been able to ascertain why. But I'm stuck with it too. It's all rubbish! No tunes to any of them, lot of shouting, lot of tedious repetitive beats, each set sounds exactly the same to poor old Reg. Where's the Macc Lads when you need them eh? ...

Re: All Weather Tarp Setups/Photos
Bit of a tarp fanatic here, so I'll add penn'orth too. I don't use a tent. Or a bivvy bag. However my tarps are larger than most on here - 9 x 7 and 10 x 8 - so no need to faff or add weight with a bivvy bag. My config of choice is the flying diamond, or flying V as some would call it. Very very fas...

Re: WRT 2024: Tall Tales and Dirty Deeds
Apart from the weather going horribly wrong that was a nice WRT. The locations of the GRs meant that there was lots of the renowned WRT “bumping into other riders at random” which is one of my favourite aspects. Our LHC-B group gathered together and off we went, having lost a couple of players, but ...

Re: WRT GR's
And if you're in the Wynnstay tonight, have a Poretti and a pickled egg for me please will you? If that gets taken literally and everyone has an egg, along with a beer, please can someone ensure nobody strikes a match afterwards? Not there tonight sadly, but would like the building to still be ther...

Re: What is ádventure?
What's down that track? as an example. Having something planned to the enth degree simply limits the possibility of adventure. Yep. And I'll refer back to my point about imagination being required with old computer games. Imagination equally applies to adventure. Following a pre-set line or a fixed...

Re: What is ádventure?
ádventure guaranteed Oxymoron. Adventure requires an element of the unknown, there are no guarantees. Agreed :-bd "No guarantee of return". That's adventure for you  . I'll remember that this weekend  . Anyroad, never mind all that, "Adventure" was in fact th...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Frey Bentos steak and kidney pie Blimey do they still exist?! I remember them from the 1970s when I was a kid. All you needed to add there was an Angel Delight pud for the full 70s experience. Using a stainless steel billy with ceramic baking beads I was able to fashion a makeshift oven Impressive....

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Enjoyed that Phil. Would be a bit un-nerving coming across those mannequins in the dark though, especially after a few beers. "Greetings madam. May I interest you in an evening of fun and frolics?".

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Just me? Just you  . After many years doing voluntary wardening for a chunk of our local river and brook, Anglia Water requested a bit of (free) help surveying all the outfalls and tributaries. Yeah go on then. Spent the morning wading two miles of the brook with my chum Ruth noting all the o...

Re: WRT GR's
that's where my local knowledge dries up. That sounds like an ideal situation to me  . From that point onwards... "feel the force" ... it's when the real adventure starts :-bd I'm not quite the random shed connoisseur you are  We all have it in us, sometimes just takes a litt...

Re: The pickled egg (and other bar snacks) thread
Having indeed been in said Black Lion at the time the crime occurred, after some consideration I would say that pickled eggs are probably a treat best enjoyed solo. Possibly in a hermetically sealed room .

Re: Tyvek groundsheet - how long do they last?
Good question. Not sure TBH. This stuff doesn't seem to rip very easily - not that easy to cut to shape, and I pulled one cut edge apart as hard as I could and nowt happened. It's got the ripstop grid style weave. Obv it's pretty thin so won't stop a big thorn but keeps mat clean/dry and reduces abr...

Re: Tyvek groundsheet - how long do they last?
Sigh. Ebay or whatever it was asked if I wanted some spinnaker. No, I've just bought it from you (as above). Oh, hang on, this one is 35gsm, much lighter than the original. Feel guilty now for breaking my rule about trying not to buy stuff until predecessor has worn out, but I went for it. Almost ha...

Ah, ta. That's good then obviously.
Talking of Fridays, I see that last Friday had "most users ever online" - 497. Aww, pity we couldn't manage just 3 more. Anyroad, who were they I wonder? Nothing on telly last Friday or summat?
