Yah, this is the fellow. 21 years old. The rabbit's ears ones are indeed rabbit poo. Presumably at their age mine were proper Nottingham ones (only just - lot of dodginess around the closure a year later: https://www.bikebiz.com/insolvent-sturmey-archer-closes/ )? My shifter's probably worth more th...

Re: The post man's been ...
Is that an "original" one then or what? The plastic SRAM shifters they use now are rubbish aren't they. My 1999 Brom has the superb Sturmey shifter that it was built with. It's lightning fast. The feel of the SRAM ones is horrible IMO.

I resent being called middle-aged - I'm a pensioner. Got the slippers and everything.
But yes it doesn't take much to set us off when we're starved of entertainment (*)

Yes yes, to be clear I fully agree Jack. Don't particularly seek it but I can take pleasure from it when it does, rather than thinking 'oh dawg I wish this hadn't happened'. And I am that flaneur - good for you for airing the word again.

Re: Stay at home ends
when the lockdowns do stop, please can we continue the distancing. Especially when intoxicated as I assume its alot easier to lose ones inhibitions at that point. No sale! If I can't lick people when drunk, what's the point? If it helps, Rich, you can lick me when it's all over and we're both pisse...

Yep. Good pic Jeff. The tape cutting - brain dead. "People just need to let off steam, they've had enough now". Diddums. These won't be people stuck in a high-rise flat with no garden and ten screaming kids though (near Aber falls?!) I'll betcha. And closer to you JC: https://www.bbc.co.u...

Re: "What Is Bikepacking" - according to AK :-)
'Tourers' don't seem to actively revel so much in adversity - maybe the occasional absence of a cream tea at the next cafe might bring a frisson of unpleasantness  . Oh dear, I'm generalising again  . And I’m going to bite again (damn my self control!) Try reading some books by self pr...

My intentions are never to win merely to indulge in futile pub banter as above . Come to think of it, as a corollary of that I suppose you can never win either because I can never 'lose' .

Re: "What Is Bikepacking" - according to AK :-)
The word 'travel' derives from the Old French 'travail' meaning "torment, suffering or trouble" It has to be said that that is a pretty common trait on Here, and probably part of the key to it all. Taking pleasure from a bit of adversity and unpleasantness, whether mental or physical. For...

Re: "What Is Bikepacking" - according to AK :-)
Presumably there is a difference because everyone posting Here is, well, posting Here and not on 'bearbonesbiketouring.com'. I think we can agree that it's not clear-cut and there's blurred boundaries, but Here we are. So maybe rather than trying to work out what's different touring v bikepacking, w...

Re: Stay at home ends
I’m just looking forward to being able to ride away from home, my ‘ride every road in town plan is as interesting as it sounds. Good plan. Reckon you could also see how far you could get and back in a day if one was that way inclined. And if you were intent on a bivvy presumably you could 'rest up'...

Re: Stay at home ends
A huge number of people will interpret the change as 'freedom' and I reckon it will be total mayhem out there, especially if the weather is 'nice' (sic). I shall indeed continue to 'stay at home' over Easter with my head under the blankets and let everyone else 'enjoy' themselves....

Re: Stay at home ends
With some hesitation..... the 'rules' say that you might? Removal of 'rule' to stay at home means in theory you could travel to Lands End, do a bit of riding, pop in at any shops and cafes, stop where you liked, but you'd have to be home by bedtime. End of stay 'at' home isn't the same as end of not...

Repaired Joystick. As has been said many times, good service. The whole back pulled out of the body when I extracted the charging cable. Mk14. There and back in a few days. Warranty. Well done folks.
