Re: Your top 3 ITT tips.

1. Make sure you have practiced and know your kit. Don't fiddle in the last few weeks before, so check wear levels well in advance. 2. Be prepared but be able to be flexible. Nothing ever goes perfectly to plan and sometimes just one little mishap or broken part can have such a mental effect that me...

Re: Well done Mr Page.

Thanks everyone! Hilly... Not really. Not for Wales. The flattest route I could find in all honesty. Anything sub 1000m per 100km is flat to me. While the weather wasn't perfect I was pretty lucky given how bad it's been recently. About an hour of rain and temps down to -4, but I was prepared for th...

Re: New GPS recommendation please

It is simpler than high end Garmin, and if you need every training metric under the sun, then go Garmin, but if you just want a head unit to navigate with and for the usual metrics then its great and ive had 12-13 hours navigation out of it I think I have had up to 18hrs from the Elemnt. Another pl...

I think of how far along I got before turning around and giving up and often think, what if a good track was just a few hundred metres away. Normally things like this would have me back to attempt it again, but not this one

Re: Bothies and covid

I used to visit the Welsh MBA bothies a lot but over the last few years have found myself staying fairly well clear. Two closer to me I won't be visiting much, if at all again. Both easily accessible by vehicle. But like you say, some non-MBA that are harder to reach and one most recent was great. ...

As above, officially closed.
The ones I have happened to pass by are in mixed condition. I think due to the circumstances they are not being maintained at all.
The ones close to roads or accessible by vehicles are not great which is a real shame.

I have the Wahoo Elemnt, standard not the Roam version. What I will say is that the app and how it works, uploads etc is really good and also recently the customer support when the screen failed was brilliant and they sent a new one out, no questions asked. Going by that, I'd say the Roam would be r...

The Atom is either impossible to find, or very expensive 2nd hand at the moment. But then I guess there same is true for all good turbos at the moment. Personally I used a Neo2 turbo with an older bike that stays mounted and recently have got a rocker plate to test. Not convinced on the rocker plate...

Re: Chainring and gearing sizing advice

I don't use NW any more, but when I did there did seem to be a difference and I think it felt smoother at lower cadences. Pretty much what Stu says.

I don't think it's like an extra gear and don't think it's giving any extra performance/power.

The sunken road before Claerwen might be a little damp, could be better sticking to the road but you have to make an early decision as there’s a river in the way Might...  It's practically a river in a draught. It will be wet, but unlikely to be an unrideable mudfest. Toughest bits I exp...

I used a set of the Aldi ones for ages but I wore through the palm after a winter of heavy use. Since then I got a pair of Enduras and they’ve lasted really well. The only problem I’ve ever found with them is if you have to take them off (like to go into a cafe or do any repairs) they get cold quic...

What neoprene cycling glove do people recommend? I've had Endura and Sportful, both were essentially the same design and both very good. For me if I know its wet but above around 7 degrees I will use Neoprene gloves. Below that cold affects them and closer to freezing they are not good. I find the ...

My experience racing in France is that almost all areas and certainly the Alps everyone speaks English well. So learn French for sure and try and speak it, but don't get too worried as you won't ever be stuck for not speaking French. Go and do the race though, the Alps are vaguely exciting and stage...

Re: Will XT bottom bracket work in road frame?

They are interchangeable, but you need to use spacers for MTB, no spacers for road and change the inner plastic shield or run without the shield.

I used to use Dura Ace HT2 BB on the MTB as they were a bit lighter and worked just fine.

Most significant question from me is how strong are the plastic parts? For fork blade storage I use a combination of salsa anything mount, bag, and Velcro straps. The mount is very strong, and I imagine would take a lot to break. The Velcro straps are pretty much break proof, and I use three per ba...

That said, I had a more expensive set last year and they rattled within a few thousand KM.

Happy to answer any questions people might have about them. The review linked at the top is from me. I just love how quick and easy they are.
