Re: WRT 2021.
Yesss! I’m in. Again.
One question, will it be the “traditional” WRT starting from BB Towers, or the mk II like last year?

One of the only birds that can recognise themselves in a mirror, too. Mrs Perrin is one of the other sorts that is able to do that. Spends ages preening. And she frequently takes my things away and hides them in her own nest. Especially shiny things like chocolate wrappers. Usually with the chocola...

Reg, what a great adventure and write-up. I wish I had the bottle to just wing it like you do.

But they can be utter arseholes as well, like many other birds in the animal kingdom including Robins. They are opportunists and will think nothing of destroying a smaller birds nest/brood. Cheers Dave They can indeed. I’ve had them taking the swallow chicks out of the nests in one of my outbuildin...

I got back from my March/April bivvy to find an email saying I've got a place as crew on a five-week voyage in a tall ship. That's one tick off the bucket list.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
With Wales being open for unlimited travel (in Wales) I plumped for a March 31st/April 1st double in the Berwyns. Bivvy 1. March 31st. On the way there.... Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Hurray! New easing of Welsh lockdown means I can holiday in Wales again - as long as it’s in “self contained” accommodation. It doesn’t come more self-contained than bivvying on my own in some remote shed/ditch/forest somewhere. I’m thinking of a double, 30th/1st two nighter, in case the rules chang...

I can relate to this, ‘cos so did I up until May last year and my BP was typically 135/85 at the time. Now I’m thinking it might be time to draw up a bucket list.BigdummySteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:31 pmBit of a shock really, I’d assumed I was fairly healthy.

Can we have some new flavours now you're back please Frog? Bored with all the usual ones. Some time ago somebody did a 'Special Edition' choc and vanilla flavoured one which was superb. I’ll see what I can do for you, Reg, though at my level of status/influence I wouldn’t expect any more than more,...

Cheery for me 'coz I got a call today from my boss telling me I can go back to work. They told me to stay away just after Christmas to protect me from COVID and I’ve been hanging around at home on full pay since then. Yay! I’m a breadwinner again

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
From speaking with various people it does seem that the AZ one gives you a bit of a whack. Had mine at 11am last Fri, fine all day, hands seized up a bit at 10pm so went to bed. Shivered like mad for 4 hours despite 3 quilts and hot water bottle, and sweated at same time. Next morning headache and ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
I’m getting fed up of these garden bivvies, but hey-ho, needs must, when the Devil drives. For this month, I packed as for a normal bivvy and set out in the late afternoon for a twenty mile loop, ending at home. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50983345231_ef6a72b147.jpg By the time I’d set up ca...

There are new lambs about, I've just eaten my first fly of the season, the hawthorn buds are breaking out, and the first celandines are flowering. Sure signs of spring, every one. It doesn't get much cheeryer than that.

I plan anything that's not local. That's because I can't trust my goldfish memory (Ooh look, there's a castle.) to remember even the next turn, never mind the 3/4/5 after that. I put my routes on the etrex, and because the screen is so small, it's easiest is to follow the line. I have a fair few OS ...

I was mooching around the web a week or two ago and came across this. It made me smile. A great adventure - thanks for sharing. :-bd I had been thinking of something like this for a while, but there seem to be very few tracks close to the boundary, meaning long stretches of busy roads. “Beating the Bounds” I would have called it, after the beating the bounds ceremony that used to happe...

**No, not oven chips because they're horrible. These are real chips just that I cook them in the oven, so roasted I suppose.
