Re: WRT route sharing for a non local?
If you find a segment on your WRT ride, look at the leaderboard and see who rode it on the same date, click on their time and you can see their ride. Works best if you pick a segment that's obscure and likely to only be WRT riders (or even create one) to increase the chances of the people on the lea...

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.
Forecast is for rain on Sunday so I'm guessing some may opt out of the riding on that day. Even £2k doesn't guarantee good weather

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.
As an example of what people will pay, on The Island this weekend people are paying £2295 for 2 days of guided riding. https://www.leblanq.com/products/isle-of-wight I'll be on the same roads myself, but I will have to do my own navigation and cook my own dinner. On a serious note it does illustrate...

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.
I think the reason it comes up is self supported bikepacking events didn't used to cost anything to enter, and most don't, the organisers did all that for free. Once it started to become gravel-packing it seemed to cost money to enter. Maybe as the clientele are coming from the road and they're used...

I can't help with your dilemma V, but Ralph world like to point out he is focused on BAM and isn't distracted by other interests, and he's got an actual monkey brain and finds it quite offensive to refer to it like that

I could do indoors in the company of two rambunctious children which led to the massive money pit that is Lego but that's a different story. I've just had a eureka moment where I've realised who you are on Instagram, where I follow you. To be fair to your children it looks like you're the driving f...

Not WRT routes but these are all the BB200 routes from past years https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1KyNI2k7WLleKo29lxJssw2-YSDa07w5l&ll=52.53455717819189%2C-3.524227384330949&z=9 I thought the request was for the best bits  The aim is not to end up in a bog not be directed ...

Re: A WRT on Bromptons.
I dunno Reg, Sean’s itinerary looked highly feasible! Not been to the IoW in nearly 50 years either so maybe due a visit! It's not changed much  My suggestion is the flat way between those points, it follows the routes of the old railways. There's a line of Downs runs east to west (or west to ...

Re: Oykel Bridge to Cape Wrath as a loop
At a pub in the Peak's, I stayed at Andy's on my way back from the Cairngorm Loop and was going to go out on a bivi in the Peak's but 400 miles of Scotland (I rode the LTL after the CL300) had done me over, would have been September time. Of course it might have been someone completely different, I'...

Ah I see. There must be a friendly American boner on here who you could get to buy it and post it over? The actual shipping cost is usually a fraction of what they want to charge.

Re: Oykel Bridge to Cape Wrath as a loop
Looked amazing, and pretty good weather wise.
It took me a while to realise you're Bill and not Phil, which might be even more embarrassing as I think I went out for dinner with you and Pete (and Andy) in 2020?

When I was converting my Genesis to singlespeed (in 2017) I looked and couldn't find any over here. Are you trying to get spares for an existing frame or building a new one? In the end I bought a new BB shell from here https://www.ceeway.com/index.htm They also sell all sorts of dropouts although th...

Re: Single speed 32:20 vs 34:20 How much harder?
It's about 6% harder, whether that's enough to be an issue depends on how you get on at the moment, are you right on the limit on the steeper climbs? It might just mean you have to get off an push that bit earlier. How is the rest of the drive-train? If the chain and cog are worn will you be changin...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Pub gardens in Wales are slightly less landscaped than on The Island
That would be children's adventure playground or nearly trimmed bush over here.

Tell me about it, I rode to yours to meet up for the winter bivi, into a headwind, took me a day and a halflune ranger wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:46 pm The Island is just a wee bit further away than I thought.

How's your DIY coming on Sean 🤣 The bathroom is finished  I think 1 room every 6 years is sufficient progress. Rumors that I only did the bathroom to get a bath to check for leaks in sleeping mats are entirely unfounded  https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52037513471_3cccbbe2df_c.jpg

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Looking on the SMD website they have the pole at quite an angle. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52037435291_6601441886_c.jpg It's never let me down and pitched with the back into the wind any rain doesn't come under the front. Ah, that might explain it. When I see pictures of them the look like their closer to the ground at the front than mine but maybe it's just the angle the photo is taken from? Yep that's me in a nutshell - so far not scalded myself just spilt 1/4 of a pint. I think that as they are quite 'floppy' I actually take a bit more care when using it which is probably why I've not had many mishaps. I use waldo cup as well and they are great, but a bit small for my tea capacity To...

Re: Ferries to ‘THE Island’ & other questions
Folly Inn, Whippingham Can you get to this without having to go down that godawful road through the caravan park yet? In the dry the cheeky footpath from Island Harbour is ok. The road is only just over half a mile long so not 'that' bad. It's not the Postman's Path or Coffin Road  I'm assumi...
