Great for France, Spain etc IGN maps as well as OS.
Cheers, how did I not know about this? They probably told me in an email I didn't read  But certainly adds value to my Strava subscription :-bd

Re: Spot Tracker Anyone Please?

I've got a Gen 3 you could borrow but it's not currently registered etc. Looking on the SPOT website it would cost around €80 for one month on the flex plan which looks the cheapest way to do it.

Re: Hammock tarp ridgeline

I made mine mainly as an excuse to have a go at splicing.

I didn't think I'd like the split ridgeline as I used to hang stuff from the ridgeline under the tarp but I've not really missed it.

As for the price of Dutchware kit, I've recently bought a chameleon and an asymmetrical bug net for it, ouch!

Re: Hammock tarp ridgeline

I replaced my ridgeline and guys with zing-it which is half the weigh of the 2mm marlow line I was using. I saved 16g and it only cost me £40  The marlow was £7 for a 50m reel. I've got a split ridgeline with Dutchware fleas which works really well. I was worried it might be tricky to centre ov...

The original had a profound effect on me, I.e. doing the TD. Worried this might be flogging a dead horse though.
Hopefully they have lots of unseen clips of Alan Goldsmith which were the highlights of the original

I've made one that's virtually identical and it's not a problem. The lip is against your back so the mud doesn't get to that part.

Interesting, I wonder how durable they'll be? I use the xc trail versions of the Vittoria tyres as I've heard the xc race have sidewalls vulnerable to punctures? Not such an issue in an xc race but not so handy miles from anywhere.

I was once involved with a development just outside of Ryde where we needed to lay a new surface water drain under the track to get to the river on the far side. The engineer from Network rail arranged to meet me on site which was just next to a level crossing where a bridleway crossed it. I arrived...

Re: Travelling across Europe quickly - how?

@slarge, I did know that, which highlights just how bad planes are.

If I had to do a 3000 mile round trip and could afford the fuel I'd take the SC RR, it would be the best place to be  plus I do 3000 miles a year riding my bike to work instead of driving so that counts as offsetting?

Just fly and when you get there tell them you drove there in a supercharged Range Rover, when they kick off about the fuel consumption tell them you flew as it's a lower carbon footprint

Javi would ride there

And on the Crane cousins Journey to the Centre of the Earth they used panniers, and were incredibly minimal. There's TLS, then there's take even less than that and then there's what the Cranes packed for that journey. On the front cover the panniers look to be about 10 litres max. Great book, I've ...
