Re: Kiddy Back tandem vs weehoo trailer thoughts

I've got a FollowMe Tandem gathering dust in my garage if you're keen. It's quite a hefty piece of kit, but it works very well for it's intended purpose: dragging them along safely on busy roads or up hills and then unclipping them and letting them ride their own bike. Mine works with QR, but it loo...

Re: Torino-Nice Rally logistics - tips?

We flew in and out of Nice and stored bike bags at a nearby hotel found on https://www.nannybag.com/ Can't remember what it cost, but IIRC it was fairly reasonable. Departed Nice as soon as the bikes were unpacked and the bags were stashed. Rode to Turin over three days, which I thoroughly recommend...

Re: HT550 - 2024

I applied and didn’t get the nod. Rather gutted as it’s been on my to do list for a few years. I hadn’t really considered how popular it’s become. 160 male entrants for 35 places. Assuming that 10 or so places will go those with proven race pedigree, the odds aren’t great for a first timer getting a...

Re: BB200 2023

That was hard. I’m encouraged to see that my impression matches the general consensus of others here. Two of us had a crack at the 300 on the second weekend and didn’t get it done. About 200km in it was obvious that we were going to be well out of time and so we pulled the plug and headed back to th...

I was assigned that name for obvious reasons.

Re: Next weekends BB200

That was fun. Cold wet & dark fun. Overall the ride went very well for me. Nothing fell off the bike or the body. Certainly it went better than previous (Green) attempts. Mercifully the rain stopped as the sun went down. I'm not sure I could have handled the rain + the cold after dark. Was very ...

Re: BB200

Well that was fun! More fun than I bargained for as it turned out. Way past type 2 at one point. Had been feeling a bit rough on the days preceding the weekend, but felt ok on Saturday morning. ...and the box of Imodium which proclaimed "Dissolves on the tongue for instant relief!" gave me...

Re: Roam Scotland Rally

Two of us rode the Roam Scotland Rally last month. We were down for the 2020 event (Edinburgh to Inverness), but that did happen ...for obvious reasons. Then signed up for the 2021 West Coast and Islands. The was supposed to happen in May, but didn't ...for obvious reasons. So Rumps & I armed wi...

Re: Good Luck BBers

youtube video now unavailable? was enjoying showing it to my pals as a record of the fortitude in This Place. In light of the comments I killed the video because I didn't want my mates getting in trouble with the law. Generated some good debate though. Knowing them I doubt they could be arsed if th...

Here's my report. A bit long, but when you stop for 12hrs it becomes a long ride.

Re: Dynamo lights 101

Reliable AA lights? Fenix LD20. I'll second that. I used a Revo on the bars juiced by a shutter precision hub. It's great, but on a very slow climb, or while walking it doesn't push out enough light. It's a bit of investment, having to get it built into a wheel etc, but if you use it for commuting ...

Re: GPS Recomendations

You can upload routes and download activities from a Garmin Edge 800 without a computer. You need to purchase a "usb on the go" cable & you need a phone that supports this format (I think Android 3.1 and later). Using that cable you can connect the Garmin to the phone and it will mount...

I can explain: We just made it to the Rhil Goch Inn at 21:00 for dinner (as per the plan). A well meaning local offered us a ca...

Re: 1 week to go...

Looking forward to this. It'll be a first for me: I've got minimal off road riding at night experience (plenty on the road though). Dusted off my MTB (almost 365 days of dust), bled the brakes and did a 60km test ride with a couple of hours on in the dark on Saturday. All went well. I was please to ...
