Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Lovely spot. Hope you checked for ticks. Oh yes. No ticks found there, although I did see a couple near Uath Lochan (quite a few roe deer there). It is indeed a lovely spot. Rode up from Kngussie, up the Creag Dhu single track (wimped out of the newly repaired Badan path in true coward fashion) ove...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

My son Fraser (11) and I have set out to take part in BaM 2019. Have successfully completed January and February so far. Not much time left to bag March. January BaM was to Greensykes bothy. Rode in from Eskdalemuir following Ray Young's Borders 220 route. February BaM was to Abyssinia bothy in the...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

March done very locally, but with a couple of very wet stream crossings - from work at Kincraig out to Ruigh Aiteachain. Very quiet, just me and one other guy there. I remembered the stove this time, fortunately.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

First of the year for me - missed last month with illness and then skiing trip. Tent at Loch Garten, into Nethy for food and the Petal Power talk, then back for the (beautiful) night. Owl was a bit loud though. Managed to forget the stove, so forced to forgo porridge in favour of a bacon roll at the...

Re: Glen Feshie by e-bike

'Twas my wife who made the comment about an ebike being too heavy. She's ridden one off-road a fair bit, so knows whereof she speaks. The women are all Petal Power members, a very good local women's club.

Guee make one - I did use it for a while. Not convinced it made much difference really.

Re: Get yourself seen

Smart Lunar R2 has a reasonable seatstay mount. Bit of petroleum jelly solves the water ingress problem some people report.

Re: Fat bike - anyone regret it?

Don't have a problem with putting bags on mine - is the issue that the seat's too low? Yep, so my short legs can reach the peddles  https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5601/15270557309_f20b251c4c.jpg Surly Krampus by Brother Smith , on Flickr So being too tall has some advantages (can get the bag a...

Re: Fat bike - anyone regret it?

I went for a Krampus for similar reasons. Everyone I asked at the time said 29+ is better way to go unless your also likely to be doing beach/snow/bog riding (which I am not). I love the Krampus, but being a short ass it feels a bit tall and I can't get any bike packing bags on it, so I have the fa...
