Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I was considerably more cheery on my ride today than the bloke I met asking me if I'd seen any car keys. He had ridden 20 miles before he realised they had fallen out of his pocket. I hope he found them but given that half the paths around here are gloop, I suspect that he might be a tad glum at the...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

My hotel has a complimentary cake and biscuit pantry. Big enough win thought I until I went in and discovered that, unbeknownst to me, Tunnocks make a XL wafer.

Re: What are you drinking now?

I prefer traditional stout and porters to the "flavoured" varieties but currently enjoying a gallon or two of Badger's Master Stoat - The smell is glorious and the taste not far behind - It reminds me of a Thornton's coffee chocolate. Oh, and yesterday I had one or two draught Guerilla sto...

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn

I like the look of wind farms and certainly prefer them to our old vista of a colliery and coal refining plant (with it's rotten eggs smell.) We have a small wind farm in view and I would be happy to have more of them around here. I don't find them particularly noisy and their installation didn't ta...

I think I'd rather be followed by that thing than some of the over-excitable furries we get prancing around Sherwood Forest after dark.

Miles away from my usual listening taste but clicked on this out of curiosity, knowing that there is some amazing stuff coming from Saharan Africa. It is perfect for some of my more sedate listening moods.

Re: Wildlife

I was watching one of the neighbour's cats trying to catch a couple of magpies in a tree. The magpies were obviously running rings round it and it was clear that they were doing it on purpose, getting as close to the cat as they could and then flying just out of reach. Quite amusing.

Re: Do you like choice?

TV is a good example, especially with Netflix type channels included. As a result, I've chosen not to watch TV at all, though I will very occasionally watch something with Mrs Mac. I don't even watch the news anymore but that's another topic and probably a more depressing one.

You can take the miner out of the mine but you can't take the mine out of the miner.

Yes, thanks Dee and Stu. The thing I like most about BB200s is that they feel crafted. They're not routes that are just thrown togther to make 200/300km and as a consequence, even though they are a challenge, they are not a slog because they aren't boring. Even when you're faced with a Good Grief! W...

Re: BB200 2023

When I got back to the school, Rich G was there, so it was nice to have a conversation with someone about the event rather than just buggering off home, it meant I could mentally draw a line under not finishing. It also goes without saying that it's always great to have those chats on the way round...
