Re: Compression plug
I think so, the rounded edges sit on top of the steerer. Just wanted to check before applying any force.

It's this style. I should mention that it seems quite well held, what's the best way to loosen it?
Cheers, Mac.

Compression plug
I'm new to carbon forks and so after some extended judder I have checked the headset and noticed that the compression plug has raised its ugly head above the steerer. https://i.imgur.com/bjfVgcxt.jpg I've had a quick google and none of the posts I've seen feature this form of plug. What's the correc...

Re: What are you listening to now?
Any idea of the bpm of those songs? They never let up. Not too sure to be honest, I never take much notice of BPM, it's more the "feel" of speed I like. Aye, I've had to install a spoiler on my zimmer frame so I don't become airborne at gigs now. Shortly booking tickets for the Sex Pissed...

Re: Unpadded shorts for 100 miles daily.
43 years cycling......... never worn padded cycling shorts. my current fave set up for distance riding is primark cotton trunk underpants, which are longish in the leg bit, mated with some Altura all road gravel shorts. which are light, stretchy and not too baggy.https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Altura-All...

Re: Unpadded shorts for 100 miles daily.
Thanks, that's what I do. I was wondering if there were baggy shorts that were good for repeated long days due to seam position and the like.fatbikephil wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:14 pm I wear Bam bamboo boxers under baggy shorts - works very well and easy to wash and dry if need be.

Unpadded shorts for 100 miles daily.
I'm off on a jaunt in June which will require at least a 100 miles a day for nine days. It's mainly off road and I'll be on a mountain bike. I don't like wearing padded shorts and haven't worn them for about 15 years. Any recommendations for shorts that may suit. It's likely to be hot weather, so li...

Nice mats. May as well get 3R for sake of 65g and marginally bulkier? All year round then. Third off : https://wildbounds.com/products/mummy-ultra-3r-lime-green?variant=44639054725287&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxkH9cvuPX_U7PPJf9fTAoixuborrnUw244sguu5fDIv3Rfzsh_1ORYaAuwSEALw...

Summer mat.
I'm off into central Europe in June for a bikepacking event. Night temps don't go below 10 degrees and more typically are 15 degrees and I sleep quite warm. So, what do we think the best compromise of weight/comfort is?
I'm currently thinking Exped Ultra 1R MW Mummy.

I watched the video when you posted it and enjoyed it but I have enjoyed the read even more. It perfectly conveys the way those of us with less of the bikepacking superpowers feel when participating in this love/loathe event.

Hello Eric, I'm interested in this. Does it have the top length of pole for spreading the width across the top? Cheers Mac. Hiya @macinblack Yes, there’s a short pole across which holds the flysheet. You can see one end of it in the second picture, where the guy line meets it. Thanks Eric - PM inco...
