Re: What are you listening to now?

^ I remember John Peel airing it - I also remember people not quite getting the joke.

Now listening to the Tornado meets razorblade factory that is Funeral Mist.

Re: Christmas!

We love Christmas, mainly because we can all get together as a family and this year my son is home for it for the first time in years. It's always chilled and even though the youngest of us is 30, there is still a ripple of excitement about it. So whether you are a festive frollicker or humbollocker...

Re: Christmas Album Cover Photo Quiz

Time to move it on I think.

It was Discharge - Hear nothing, See Nothing, Say nothing.

Someone else ready to put one up?

Three of the four boxes give the album title (from one of Stoke's finest) - I think Stu is being coy, he definitely knows this album.

It's more or less say what you see. There's plenty on here that will know it instantly. Stick your own up, no reason why there can't be more than one up I suppose.

I had to wear a thick jacket to thread the christmas lights around our Monkey Puzzle tree, vicious thing that it is. Sweating conkers. Where's that ice age gone we were promised in the 70's?

Re: Odd places to sleep

Crown Farm and Blidworth Reg.

Can't remember exactly where the earthmover was now but it was more accurately a loader for those massive quarry trucks that can carry a small housing estate in the back.

Re: Odd places to sleep

Many moons ago when I worked down the pit, sometimes I got taken off the face to be a button man if the regular one hadn't turned up. That basically means being in charge of a section of conveyor to make sure it ran properly and didn't get jammed if a large rock came off the face. Usually coal conve...

Re: Anyone follow a strict diet ?

I eat pretty much what I want, though I've never had a big appetite. I am a slave to the pudding gods though and can be easily corrupted by cake. Having completed the BB200 calorie deficient, I did nothing but eat last week and have only just stopped regarding Mrs Mac as a giant cooked chicken, like...

Re: BB200

^ Nice write up, I enjoyed that, all the 'fun' of the event without having to do it  Anyway, who was the dude from the IoW, if it wasn't Sean? I'm wondering this as well. At the very least I owe him an apology that people thought he was me  It's quite a small Island so there's a reasonabl...

Re: Change of lifestyle maybe ?

HelloTony, I retired 32 months ago now and whilst I've never felt down about it, it did take at least a year to get into a groove where I stopped thinking about what I was going to do with myself and accepting I wasn't going to look for any more work. It might take you a similar amount of time to cl...

Re: BB200

My first action for this year's BB200 was to ignore all the comments of it being a fast route and remarks about the high number of black badges given for the October edition. As a bimbler, I can't really exploit the advantages of more tarmac and often Welsh road layers like to show their sadistic si...

Re: BB200

There were a few others in the cafe, including Sean IoW, who was looking noticeably clean and fresh. We talked but I failed to introduce myself (d’oh! Hi Sean, I was sat opposite you looking tired) Too late edit - I highlighted the wrong sentence - Should have been the one above. As Stu said, as so...

Re: BB200

Soon after the cafe I was caught by a chap in a BB shirt with a beard and we rode together on and off for a few hours. (Nice riding with you, if you’re reading this, and sorry for not introducing myself and getting your name.) As Stu said, as soon as the rider said he was from the Isle of Wight, I ...

Re: BB200 route.

I still like the idea of a superblack badge... get around in sub 20 (or whatever) and Stu will glue some glitter on to the bear or something. Could be a black bear on a black background, you know, one that only those that have won it understand, only a passing knowing nod to another veteran w...

Re: BB200 route.

Given the badge distribution I wonder what it might look like if the time limit for Black was 20hrs rather than 24? Yesterday would have changed to 10 black, 8 blue. Every year, I wonder what might happen if the time cut-offs were changed but the following year I leave them the same as there are so...

Is anyone having a drink this evening anywhere, in the company, or not, of other bikepackers?
I'm at the Aleppo in Carno but if there's a hub/gaggle/conference/aroma of BBers anywhere, I'll pop over for a swift half.

Well, I've avoided my usual cock up on these events, my cycling boots are in the car ready and not screaming at me from the porch as I drive away, as often happens.
